Juneau, AlaskaIntroduction to Juneau, Alaska
Juneau, the capital of the State of Alaska, is located on the Gastineau Channel on the Alexander Archipelago of southeastern Alaska. Juneau is roughly 890 miles northwest of Seattle, Washington and 560 miles southeast of Anchorage. The area of Juneau is almost as large as the states of Delaware and Rhode Island combined.
Juneau is organized into two districts. District 1 consists of the Downtown Juneau, Salmon Creek, Lemon Creek, Switzer Creek, Juneau International Airport, and Douglas Island precincts. District 2 consists of the Mendenhall Valley, Auke Bay, Fritz Cove, and Lynn Canal precincts.
Main access to Juneau is by sea or air. Juneau is served by the Juneau International Airport (JNU) which has one runway and one seaplane landing area. Juneau is also served by the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS), a ferry service operated by the government of the U.S. state of Alaska for communities in Southeastern Alaska that have no road access. Juneau's harbor is also a port of call for cruise ships.
Prior to European settlement, the area now occupied by Juneau was inhabited by Tlingit Indians, known as the Auke and Taku tribes. The area was a favorite fishing ground of the Indians. In 1880, the site of Juneau was founded as a mining camp by Joe Juneau and Richard Harris. The town was originally called Harrisburg, after Richard Harris. Subsequently the name was changed to Rockwell. The name was last changed to Juneau in 1881. Juneau became the City and Borough of Juneau in 1970 when the City of Juneau merged with the City of Douglas and the surrounding borough to form the current municipality

Do you have a problem with drug or alcohol addiction and live in Juneau, Alaska? Are you concerned about a family member in Juneau, who has a problem like this? Whatever your situation it's easy to believe that you're alone with this . . . that, somehow, you have to solve the problem all on your own. That is not the case. We care about you - and will help you find an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Facility in Juneau, suited to your specific treatment needs. You don't have to deal with drug addiction or alcoholism on your own!
A Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Center in Juneau, is a good option for the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism. The goal of an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Center in Juneau, AK. is to direct the initial treatment plan toward the ability of the individual to stop using drugs and/or alcohol and hence avoid the psychological, legal, financial, social, and physical consequences that are usually associated with drug addiction and alcoholism.
There are many different addiction treatment approaches such as Long-term Drug Rehabilitation Centers, Outpatient Drug Rehabs, Short-term Drug Rehabilitation, Inpatient Addiction Treatment, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.
Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers in Juneau, typically focus on the two-fold nature of drug addiction and alcoholism: physical and psychological addiction. Physical addiction can be treated by a detoxification program in Juneau, Alaska with treatment procedure to assist with the painful withdrawal symptoms which manifest themselves when a person discontinues the consumption of a drug or drugs that they are addicted to. With habitual use of a psychoactive substance the brain gradually adapts to the presence of the drug so the desired effect becomes minimal. This is how physical tolerance develops to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol to name a few. It also explains why more and more of the drug is needed to get the same effect with habitual use of an addictive drug. The abrupt cessation of an addictive drug can lead to serious withdrawal symptoms where the body may take weeks or months (depending on the drug involved) to return to normal function. The withdrawal symptoms from certain substances, such as heroin, can induce severe and painful withdrawal symptoms, and be quite prolonged.
An Alcohol Rehab or Drug Treatment Program in Juneau, will not only provide the person with a professional detox but also provide an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Rehab Center for the psychological issues inevitably underlying all drug and alcohol addiction problems, so as to decrease the chances of relapse and increase the chances of a clean and sober life.
A Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Facility in Juneau, AK. is more likely to be one of the most successful methods for treating an individual with a severe drug addiction problem. Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facilities in Juneau, are designed to deliver a comprehensive treatment curriculum and assist a person in every facet of their life 24 hours a day.
For a person to make a successful recovery, they must acquire new knowledge, abilities and 'life skills'. This new knowledge, abilities and life skills must be directed toward strategies for returning home to Juneau, from a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Center and encountering old drug using acquaintances in Juneau - as well as ways to handle the many reminders and triggers of their past drug using days in Juneau. These triggers can produce memories which can produce psychological stressors. These psychological stressors often hinder the recovering addict, making it very difficult for them to feel as though they have control over their actions concerning drug using impulses. This is because research into the brain of addicts shows changes in the way their brain functions long after they have discontinued using drugs and/or alcohol. This is the main reason why even an individual with will power as strong as steel may find it extremely difficult to overcome drug addiction or alcoholism without professional addiction treatment. With so many obstacles such as triggers, drug cravings, and changes in the way their brain functions due to habitual drug use, it is no surprise why so many people attend a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Facility each year to successfully recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
There are many reasons why a person should enroll into an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Treatment Center in Juneau. A few of the many reasons are: the inability to control or eliminate their drinking or drug use, alienating their friends and family, legal problems, severe depression and general unhappiness due to excessive drug or alcohol use.
