Among full-time college students aged 18 to 22, there were increases from 2007 to 2008 in the current rate of use of hallucinogens (from 1.0 to 2.1 percent). There were no significant changes in the rates of current use for any drugs among persons aged 18 to 22 who were not full-time college students.
The rate of binge drinking was 42.2 percent for young adults aged 18 to 25. Heavy alcohol use was reported by 15.6 percent of persons aged 18 to 25. These rates are similar to the rates in 2005 (41.9 and 15.3 percent, respectively).
Rates of SPD in 2007 were highest for adults aged 18 to 25 (17.9 percent) and lowest for adults aged 50 or older (7.0 percent).
