The pattern of higher rates of current alcohol use, binge alcohol use, and heavy alcohol use among full-time college students compared with rates for others aged 18 to 22 has remained consistent since 2002.
The percentage of teens aged 12 to 17 indicating that smoking marijuana once a month was a great risk increased from 32.4 percent in 2002 to 34.9 percent in 2003, but did not change between 2003 and 2004 (35.0 percent). There were declines between 2003 and 2004 in the percentages of teens perceiving a great risk in using cocaine and heroin.
