Based on 2005-2008 combined data, the five most often reported reasons for not receiving illegal drug or alcohol use treatment among persons aged 12 or older who needed but did not receive treatment at a specialty facility and perceived a need for treatment included (a) not ready to stop using (38.8 percent), (b) no health coverage and could not afford cost (32.1 percent), (c) possible negative effect on job (12.3 percent), (d) not knowing where to go for treatment (12.0 percent), and (e) concern that receiving treatment might cause neighbors/community to have negative opinion (11.8 percent).
Another form of drug rehab treatment that is available is inpatient short-term rehab. This type of treatment program is somewhat different from many other types of drug rehab programs. An individual who attends an inpatient short-term treatment center is provided with substance abuse treatment for approximately 4-6 weeks. Typically this form of drug rehab treatment is administered by medical professionals and trained counselors.
