Did You Know? ...
Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Many residential inpatient drug rehab programs have been designed specifically with the Methadone addict in mind, as getting the individual out of the environment in which they previously used the drug will ultimately give them a much greater chance at being successful in treatment.

If opiate addicts do not receive regular doses of opiates, they will start going through withdrawal, which is a very painful process.

Almost all addicted individuals believe they can stop using drugs or alcohol on their own in the beginning and most eventually will try to stop without professional help. However, most of these attempts generally will result in failure in terms of achieving long-term abstinence.

The Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN), which is the government agency that monitors medications and illegal drugs that are reported in emergency departments across the U.S., recently reported that two of the most frequently reported prescription medications in drug abuse-related cases during 2009 were benzodiazepines, such as diazepam, alprazolam, and clonazepam, and opioid pain relievers which include oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, and methadone.

In 2008, adults with past year MDE were more likely than those without MDE to be dependent on or abuse illegal drugs or alcohol (20.3 vs. 7.8 percent).

As was the case from 2002 through 2005, the rate of substance dependence or abuse for boys aged 12 or older in 2006 was about twice as high as the rate for girls (12.3 vs. 6.3 percent). Among teens aged 12 to 17, however, the rate of substance dependence or abuse among boys was similar to the rate among girls (8.0 vs. 8.1 percent).
