Cupertino, CaliforniaIntroduction to Cupertino, California
The suburban city of Cupertino is located in Northern California's Santa Clara County, about 10 miles west of San Jose and 45 miles southeast of San Francisco. Situated near the junction of Interstate I-280 and California State Highway 85, the city is also easily accessible to State Highway 17 and U.S. Route 101. Surrounding communities include Saratoga (to the south), Santa Clara (to the northeast), and Mountain View (to the northwest).
First known as West Side, the community acquired a new name in 1898 to distinguish it from other similarly named towns. The name Cupertino was chosen to match that of a local winery (which in turn had been named for a local creek), and for many years fruit agriculture was the community's primary industry. A post-World War II population boom led to Cupertino's incorporation in 1955, followed in the next decade by the opening of De Anza College and the following decade by the arrival of Apple Computer Corporation to the city. Still the headquarters of Apple, Cupertino today has since become home to many other high-technology electronics and computer firms and is sometimes referred to as the "heart" of Silicon Valley.
Events and Attractions in Cupertino
For outdoor recreation Cupertino offers more than 150 acres of parkland, and a variety of indoor recreation can be had at the Cupertino Sports Center. The city also hosts a number of annual events. The Annual Crab Feed, held each year in April at DeAnza College, is the city's largest community event and features a live auction along with all the crab you can eat. Another April event is the annual Cherry Blossom Festival which honors Cupertino's sister city of Toyokawa, Japan. The festival features a wide selection of Japanese food and beverages, live entertainment, cultural exhibits, and arts &crafts. The Lunar New Year Unity Parade, held every March, brings the city's broad spectrum of cultures together. The Moon Festival of Silicon Valley is a cultural fair that takes place in the Cupertino Memorial Park every September. The event is based on the traditional Chinese celebration of the full moon.

Before an addict is finally willing to surrender to the Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Program process, they may have already made repeated promises to their loved ones in Cupertino who have been experiencing the negative effects from the individual's drug or alcohol abuse; because of the way that these substances chemically alter the person's brain, these empty promises cannot be fulfilled.
