Did You Know? ...
Interesting Facts and Statistics:

A common misconception is that you see pink horses and cows when tripping on LSD. This may not be true, but an individual using the drug may see trails and dots and sometimes lines in lots of different hues.

Individuals that are addicted to Lortab will often report the loss of a prescription or tell the doctor that the prescription has been stolen in an attempt to obtain more of the drug; most physicians see this as a red flag concerning addiction.

Nonmedical users of prescription type psychotherapeutic drugs are asked questions regarding how they obtained the drugs they recently used nonmedically. In both 2005 and 2006, over half of the nonmedical users of prescription type pain relievers, tranquilizers, stimulants, and sedatives said they obtained the drugs they used most recently "from a friend or relative for free." A follow up question added in 2006 asked these respondents where their friend or relative had obtained the drugs.

Xanax has always been recommended for short term use, but the large majority of the individuals that use it report taking it on a daily basis.

Crime and heroin addiction have long been associated together. This is due to many reasons such as the fact that heroin importation and distribution are illegal. Also, heroin and crime are synonymous because many addicted people turn to theft and prostitution to obtain money to buy the drug. Violent competition between drug dealers has resulted in many murders and the deaths of innocent bystanders. From 1979 through 1990 arrests for heroin manufacture, sale, or possession in the United States held steady, but in the 1990s arrests rose as the drug's popularity began to increase once more.

Between 1973 and 1982, methamphetamine incidence exhibited a plateau of about 300,000 to 400,000 new users per year. During this period, the majority of new users were aged 18 to 25. The new users during the rise in incidence in the 1990s, however, were approximately evenly split between 12 to 17 year olds and 18 to 25 year olds. This shift in age distribution was reflected in the average age of new users, which fell from 22.3 years in 1990 to 18.4 years in 2000.
