Hacienda Heights, California

Introduction to Hacienda Heights, California

Hacienda Heights is an unincorporated California community located in Los Angeles County, about 20 miles east of Los Angeles. Principal highways servicing the community include California State Highway 60, and Interstates I-10 and I-605. Surrounding communities include La Puente (to the north), Rowland Heights (to the east), La Habra Heights (to the south), and Whittier (to the west).

Situated in a region of eastern Los Angeles County originally inhabited by Gabrielino Indians, Hacienda Heights was originally part of Rancho La Puente, a 48,790-acre tract that formerly belonged to the San Gabriel Mission. By the end of the 19th century, the ranch had been bought and subdivided by developers, who established Hacienda Heights and its surrounding communities. By the early twentieth century the region became known for its abundance of citrus, walnut, and avocado crops. After World War II, however, the region underwent a building boom and crops took a back seat to development, resulting in the area's residential character today. In 2003, voters were asked to decide whether Hacienda Heights should incorporate and become a city but the measure was defeated by about a 2-1 margin.

Events and Attractions in Hacienda Heights

Hacienda Heights boasts six local parks: Stimson, Pepperbrook, Los Robles County, Manzanita, Thomas S Burton, and Country Wood parks. One of the community's premiere annual events is its "I Love America" parade. Started in 1988, this Independence Day celebration features a multicultural parade with performances by dragon dancers and the Falun Dafa waist-drum band. Also part of the festivities is a battle of the bands between local high schools. A noted community landmark is the Hsi Lai Temple, one of the largest Buddhist temples in the Western Hemisphere. Constructed in 1988, the temple encompasses 15 acres and a floor area of 102,432 square feet. Its architecture reflects the traditional style of buildings, gardens, and statuary of traditional ancient Chinese monasteries.

Do you live in Hacienda Heights, California and have an addiction to drugs or alcohol? Is someone you know or care about battling drug or alcohol addiction and needs help? Drug and alcohol addiction exists everywhere in society today, and when an individual is caught up in addiction it can seem that there is no way out. There is in fact a way out, and it can be found at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Facility in Hacienda Heights.

A Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Program in Hacienda Heights treats drug addiction and alcoholism by teaching the individual how to overcome problems in life with real solutions, and that drugs and alcohol are not the answer. This can empower the individual, and put them in a position to start winning and achieving their goals. The end result of treatment at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Program in Hacienda Heights would be the individual being able to work their way through life and its obstacles, without the need or desire to use drugs or alcohol.

Due to the varying needs of individuals seeking treatment, there are a number of treatment programs available in Hacienda Heights to care for someone addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. There are Short-term Treatment Facilities, Inpatient Rehab Centers, Long-term Drug Rehabs, Outpatient Treatment Centers, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.

Treatment at a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Program in Hacienda Heights will hone in on the two main causes of addiction, physical and psychological. Over time, the individual's brain adapts to the use of a psychoactive substance, lessening the effect of the drug. Physical tolerance develops as a result. The person ends up having to take more and more drugs or alcohol to try and get back to that first initial high that got them hooked.

Upon commencing treatment, an individual will address the physical aspect of addiction by taking part in a detoxification program in Hacienda Heights, California, which will get him through the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that are caused by abrupt cessation of a substance. Withdrawal symptoms can typically last for days, weeks or months depending on the type of substance you're dealing with. Heroin withdrawal for example may take quite some time to get through, and is particularly painful. Detoxification along with psychological counseling will get the individual in the right frame of mind to start addressing the psychological issues that are involved with the addiction to drugs or alcohol. This method greatly increases the individual's chances of a successful recovery and prevents relapse.

A Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Facility in Hacienda Heights, CA. offers a sane environment that is conducive to a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The individual will be taught how to properly handle life situations and control their own behavior in response to their environment. When the individual returns home following treatment, he will do so with a new mindset on how to engage with friends, family etc. The influences which may have triggered addiction in the individual will not have the same power over him. As part of treatment the individual will have addressed these psychological stressors as a priority and they will no longer have an effect on him.

Studies have shown that an individual who is addicted to drugs and alcohol shows changes in their brain, specifically the way it functions and responds to situations. This is an important reason that professional help at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Center in Hacienda Heights, CA. is the best option to try and beat addiction.

Someone who is caught up in the destructive cycle of addiction is up against a lot, the odds may seem against him. But they aren't if he pursues treatment at a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Facility in Hacienda Heights, CA. Treatment exists so that the addict is given the best chance at a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. There is hope for you or someone you care about. Addiction has a cure, and treatment at a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Program in Hacienda Heights is that cure. Don't wait another minute to get the help you deserve.

Interesting Facts and Statistics:

An individual in Blair County, which is located in the northern portion of the United States, reported that a man called a cab and proceeded to pull a knife on the cab driver and rob him; the robber, after being apprehended, disclosed to the police that he needed the money because he was addicted to bath salts.

The number of persons aged 12 or older who smoked cigarettes for the first time within the past 12 months was 2.4 million in 2008, which was similar to the estimate in 2007 (2.2 million) but significantly higher than the estimate for 2002 (1.9 million), 2003 (2.0 million), and 2004 (2.1 million). The 2008 estimate averages out to approximately 6,600 new cigarette smokers every day. Most new cigarette smokers in 2008 were under age 18 when they first smoked cigarettes (58.8 percent).

Of the 8.0 million persons who had driven under the influence of illegal drugs in the past year, most (77 percent) had also driven under the influence of alcohol.

The percentages of teens reporting binge alcohol use and use of cigarettes and marijuana in the past month were lower among those who perceived great risk in using these substances than among those who did not perceive great risk. For example, in 2008, 5.0 percent of teens aged 12 to 17 who perceived great risk from "having five or more drinks of an alcoholic beverage once or twice a week" reported binge drinking in the past month (consumption of five or more drinks of an alcoholic beverage on a single occasion on at least 1 day in the past 30 days); by contrast, past month binge drinking was reported by 11.5 percent of teens who saw moderate, slight, or no risk from having five or more drinks of an alcoholic beverage once or twice a week. Past month marijuana use was reported by 1.5 percent of teens who saw great risk in smoking marijuana once a month compared with 9.4 percent of teens who saw moderate, slight, or no risk.

In 2005, 2.4 percent of 12 or 13 year olds, 9.2 percent of 14 or 15 year olds, and 20.6 percent of 16 or 17 year olds were current cigarette smokers. Current cigarette use peaked at 41.2 percent among young adults aged 21 to 25. Less than a quarter (22.3 percent) of persons in the 35 or older age group in 2005 smoked cigarettes in the past month.

According to Drug Abuse Warning Network, or DAWN, heroin and morphine accounted for 51% of drug deaths ruled accidental or unexpected in 1999.
