Hemet, California

Introduction to Hemet, California

The California city of Hemet is located in Riverside County's San Jacinto Valley, about 45 miles west of Palm Springs. Situated at the junction of California State Highways 74 and 79, Hemet is easily accessible to Interstates I-10 and I-215. Nearby communities include San Jacinto (to the north), Winchester (to the west), and Mountain Center (to the east).

Founded in 1887 on land first inhabited by members of the Cahuilla Indian tribe, Hemet was incorporated as a city in 1910. At that time, the city's population was under 1,000 but growth ensued as Hemet evolved into a prime trading center for the valley's agricultural produce. The city's character underwent a significant change in the early 1960s with the onset of large-scale residential development, largely in the form of retirement communities and mobile home parks. Hemet today retains its status as a retirement community, but is also becoming home to a growing number of younger working-class families owing to its rural character and proximity to major employment centers.

Events and Attractions in Hemet

Since 1923, one of the area's premiere events has been the annual Ramona Pageant. Based on the novel ("Ramona") by Helen Hunt Jackson, the pageant brings together the people of Hemet and San Jacinto who stage America’s longest running outdoor drama each spring at the Ramona Bowl Amphitheatre. The Amphitheatre is also the venue of many theatrical events including the Shakespeare Festival, the Courtyard Dinner Theatre Summer series, and the Ramona Bowl Repertory Theatre fall musical. Museums in Hemet include the Hemet Museum, which features agricultural displays, Native American artifacts, railroading relics, and other artifacts showcasing the area's colorful history; and the KidZone Museum, an interactive children's museum housing over 20 interactive learning exhibits.

Do you or someone you care about live in Hemet, California and have an addiction to drugs or alcohol? Have you failed at trying to help someone with drug or alcohol addiction in Hemet and have lost all hope? Drug and alcohol addiction are an epidemic in our society today. Someone who is addicted to drugs or alcohol is just existing, not living. This can be a very sad and depressing existence to say the least. But all is not lost, and there are ways to treat addiction that actually work. The way out can be found at an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Treatment Facility in Hemet that will suit your treatment needs.

The reason a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Program in Hemet works for the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism is because the individual will learn to overcome problems in life by confronting them, not by numbing them with drugs and alcohol. Once the individual starts confronting and handling life situations, they realize that they can actually cope with their problems and don't feel the need to compound them with drugs or alcohol.

Each individual is different, and there are a variety of treatment programs available in Hemet to cater to individual needs. For example, there are Outpatient Drug Rehabilitation, Short-term Rehab Centers, Long-term Addiction Treatment Programs, Inpatient Addiction Treatment Facilities, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.

The two main aspects of addiction, physical and psychological, are what the individual will be addressing during the course of treatment at a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Center in Hemet. Individuals will first begin by addressing the aspect of physical addiction by taking part in a detoxification program in Hemet, California, which will help with the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that ensue when a person stops using drugs or alcohol. The brain adapts to the use of a psychoactive substance over time, which lessens the effect of the drug. This is how physical tolerance to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol develops. This is why someone using drugs has to take more and more of the substance to get the same effect. Abruptly stopping substance use is what causes the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms could last for days, weeks or even months depending on the individual's history of abuse. Hardcore drugs such as heroin have a particularly long and painful withdrawal period.

Right off the bat, an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Facility in Hemet will get the individual started on a professional detoxification accompanied by psychological counseling. At the root of the individual's addiction to drugs or alcohol are these psychological issues. Once addressed, the individual's chances of relapse are decreased markedly.

Due to the structured environment and comprehensive program that a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Facility in Hemet, CA. offers, it truly is the most successful method for treating drug and alcohol addiction. There is no stone left unturned, every area where the individual is having problems in life will be addressed.

As part of treatment in Hemet, CA., the individual will be trained on how to react appropriately to situations in life and how to change his behavior patterns. Staff of an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Facility in Hemet will work with the individual on how to respond to his environment, friends, family etc. when he returns home upon completion of treatment. It is expected that the individual will be able to appropriately handle the things which may have initially triggered his drug use. If not, these influences may produce psychological stressors which can cause the person to relapse. That is why professional treatment to address these psychological stressors is such an important aspect of the individual's recovery.

After having discontinued use of drugs or alcohol, research has shown that an addict's brain changes the ways it functions and responds to situations. This is yet another reason it is vital to seek professional help at a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Center in Hemet, CA., instead of trying to stop on one's own. There is so much for an addict to overcome to achieve sobriety. It is no easy task, even with help. Seeking help at a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Program in Hemet, CA. is an addict's best bet for a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. If you or someone you know is ready for a new life free of drugs and alcohol, find out what treatment options are available at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Program in Hemet. No time is better than the present to end the cycle of addiction and all of the destruction that it creates. Help is waiting for you or someone you love today.

Did You Know? ...
Interesting Facts and Statistics:

The national prevalence rate for the use of cocaine in the past year among all persons aged 12 or older was 2.5 percent. Because cocaine is one of the substances included in the "any illegal drug other than marijuana" category, it is useful to compare the rankings of States with respect to these two substance measures. In 2002.2003, only five of the States ranked in the highest fifth for past month use of an illegal drug other than marijuana (aged 12 or older) also had past year rates of cocaine use (aged 12 or older) that were in the highest fifth. Colorado had the highest rate of past year cocaine use (3.9 percent) among persons aged 12 or older; the District of Columbia had the highest rate (3.7 percent) among those aged 26 or older; Rhode Island had the highest rate (12.1 percent) among those aged 18 to 25; and Arizona had the highest rate (3.2 percent) among teens aged 12 to 17 (Table B.7). Arizona and Colorado were the only States that ranked in the top fifth for all three age groups (12 to 17, 18 to 25, and 26 or older).

Federal and state regulations require that an annual evaluation of patients takes place to determine whether they should continue in Methadone maintenance treatment.

Inhalants abusers take great health risks and may suffer from a wide array of medical consequences.

The number and percentage of current nonmedical users of psychotherapeutic drugs in 2008 (6.2 million or 2.5 percent) were lower than in 2007 (6.9 million or 2.8 percent). A small decline in the percentage of pain reliever users between 2007 (2.1 percent) and 2008 (1.9 percent), although not statistically significant, partly contributed to the lower rate for current use of psychotherapeutic drugs.

It is understandable that the decision to plan a drug or alcohol intervention for a friend or loved one can be a painful and complex process. Many times there is an underlying fear, that the individual will feel that they are being attacked. The thing to keep in mind before, during, and after an intervention is that you are doing this for one reason, and that is to save your loved ones life.

In 2006, 22.6 percent of teens aged 12 to 17 reported that, in the past year, they had gotten into a serious fight at school or at work; 17.0 percent had taken part in a group against group fight; 3.2 percent had carried a handgun at least once; 3.3 percent had sold illegal drugs; 4.8 percent had, at least once, stolen or tried to steal something worth more than $50 (increased from 4.2 percent in 2005); and 7.9 percent had, in at least one instance, attacked others with the intent to harm or seriously hurt them.
