In 2005, an estimated 19.7 million Americans aged 12 or older were current (past month) illegal drug users, meaning they had used an illegal drug during the month prior to the survey interview. This estimate represents 8.1 percent of the population aged 12 years old or older.
During 2008, 22.3 million Americans surveyed that were over the age of 12 reported using inhalants at least once.
States in the top fifth for needing but not receiving treatment for alcohol problems among persons aged 12 or older were primarily Western (four States) or Midwestern (four States).
