An intervention is when a group of loved ones and/or a trained intervention counselor meets with the person that is in immediate need of help for the purpose of breaking down their denial concerning their substance abuse problem and motivating them to immediately seek drug rehab treatment. Often, individuals in the midst of a full blown drug addiction will engage in a variety of self destructive behaviors. Many times addicts are either not aware on a conscious level that they have a drug addiction problem, or even if they are willing to recognize that they have an addiction ,they may attempt to cling to the illusion that it will somehow go away without reaching out for professional help.
