Possible drug use during treatment must be something that is monitored continuously. Lapses to drug have been known to occur during drug rehab treatment. The objective monitoring of a patient's drug and alcohol use during the treatment process, such as through urine analysis or other tests, can help the patient withstand strong urges to use drugs. Such monitoring can help to provide early evidence of drug use so that the individual's treatment plan can be appropriately adjusted.
Women are up to three times more likely than men to be prescribed drugs such as Percocet; they are also twice as likely to form a Percocet addiction. The reason that women are more likely to have problems with Percocet is mainly due to the fact that women are more likely to seek medical attention for pain.
Illegal drug use rates are generally correlated with educational status. Among adults aged 18 or older in 2001, college graduates had the lowest rate of current use (4.3 percent). The rate was 7.6 percent among those who had not completed high school. In 2006, current use of a tobacco product among persons aged 12 or older was reported by a higher percentage of boys (36.4 percent) than girls (23.3 percent). Boys also had higher rates of past month use than girls of each specific tobacco product: cigarette smoking (27.8 percent of boys vs. 22.4 percent of girls), cigar smoking (9.3 vs. 2.1 percent), use of smokeless tobacco (6.6 vs. 0.3 percent), and use of pipe tobacco (1.7 vs. 0.2 percent).
