For example, past month illegal drug use was reported by 17.3 percent of teens who had gotten into serious fights at school or work in the past year compared with 7.6 percent of those who had not, and by 38.9 percent of those who had stolen or tried to steal something worth over $50 in the past year compared with 8.5 percent of those who had not.
Among pregnant women aged 15 to 44, combined data for 2004 and 2005 indicated that the rate of past month cigarette use was 16.6 percent. The rate was higher among women in that age group who were not pregnant (29.6 percent).
