San Bernardino, California

Introduction to San Bernardino, California

Incorporated for the first time in 1854, and again in 1886, San Bernardino is the 18th largest city in California. About 200,000 people reside in the municipality. The Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario metropolitan area has a population of over 3 million people. The city of San Bernardino is located in the southern part of California, 65 miles east of Los Angeles, and 50 miles from the Pacific Ocean. It is part of a larger region referred to as the Inland Empire.

The Serrano Indians inhabited the land which eventually became San Bernardino. In 1842, Mexico granted Rancho San Bernardino to Antonio Maria Lugo who grazed thousands of head of cattle on it. In 1851 Mormons began building a colony here by purchasing land, most of which included Rancho San Bernardino. It was to be the first in a chain of settlements along a transportation route linking the southern California port of San Pedro to the home of the Mormon's Church of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City. However, by 1857 two thirds of the Mormons returned to Utah when they were recalled by their leader, Brigham Young. The return occurred in spite of having just built an infrastructure of roads, saw mills, and agricultural irrigation, not to mention shelter. The 1870's brought the very profitable introduction of navel oranges to the region. This was followed by a gold rush in the 1880's.

Temperatures reach or exceed 90 degrees an average of 101 days of the year. Rainfall averages 16 inches per year. Daily high temperatures in August average 96 degrees Fahrenheit while daily lows average 42 degrees. January daily highs and lows average 67 and 42 degrees Fahrenheit respectively.

San Bernardino is often referred to as a bedroom community. It is attracting families because of its low cost of living relative to cities closer to the ocean. Businesses which directly serve the population are sure to grow as a result of the population increase. A different type of business growth includes the large scale development of warehousing in the areas near the former Norton Air Force Base, which was vacated in 1994 and renamed the San Bernardino International Airport. The metropolitan area of Riverside-San Bernardino was named one of the "Top 25 Large Cities for Doing Business In" by Inc. Magazine in 2004

Do you have a problem with drug or alcohol addiction and live in San Bernardino, California? Are you concerned about a family member in San Bernardino, who has a problem like this? Whatever your situation it's easy to believe that you're alone with this . . . that, somehow, you have to solve the problem all on your own. That is not the case. We care about you - and will help you find a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility in San Bernardino, suited to your specific treatment needs. You don't have to deal with drug addiction or alcoholism on your own!

A Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Center in San Bernardino, is a good option for the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism. The goal of an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Facility in San Bernardino, CA. is to direct the initial treatment plan toward the ability of the individual to stop using drugs and/or alcohol and hence avoid the psychological, legal, financial, social, and physical consequences that are usually associated with drug addiction and alcoholism.

There are many different addiction treatment approaches such as Long-term Treatment Programs, Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs, Short-term Drug and Alcohol Rehabs, Inpatient Treatment Programs, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.

Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers in San Bernardino, typically focus on the two-fold nature of drug addiction and alcoholism: physical and psychological addiction. Physical addiction can be treated by a detoxification program in San Bernardino, California with treatment procedure to assist with the painful withdrawal symptoms which manifest themselves when a person discontinues the consumption of a drug or drugs that they are addicted to. With habitual use of a psychoactive substance the brain gradually adapts to the presence of the drug so the desired effect becomes minimal. This is how physical tolerance develops to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol to name a few. It also explains why more and more of the drug is needed to get the same effect with habitual use of an addictive drug. The abrupt cessation of an addictive drug can lead to serious withdrawal symptoms where the body may take weeks or months (depending on the drug involved) to return to normal function. The withdrawal symptoms from certain substances, such as heroin, can induce severe and painful withdrawal symptoms, and be quite prolonged.

An Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Program in San Bernardino, will not only provide the person with a professional detox but also provide a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Center for the psychological issues inevitably underlying all drug and alcohol addiction problems, so as to decrease the chances of relapse and increase the chances of a clean and sober life.

A Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Facility in San Bernardino, CA. is more likely to be one of the most successful methods for treating an individual with a severe drug addiction problem. Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facilities in San Bernardino, are designed to deliver a comprehensive treatment curriculum and assist a person in every facet of their life 24 hours a day.

For a person to make a successful recovery, they must acquire new knowledge, abilities and 'life skills'. This new knowledge, abilities and life skills must be directed toward strategies for returning home to San Bernardino, from a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Center and encountering old drug using acquaintances in San Bernardino - as well as ways to handle the many reminders and triggers of their past drug using days in San Bernardino. These triggers can produce memories which can produce psychological stressors. These psychological stressors often hinder the recovering addict, making it very difficult for them to feel as though they have control over their actions concerning drug using impulses. This is because research into the brain of addicts shows changes in the way their brain functions long after they have discontinued using drugs and/or alcohol. This is the main reason why even an individual with will power as strong as steel may find it extremely difficult to overcome drug addiction or alcoholism without professional addiction treatment. With so many obstacles such as triggers, drug cravings, and changes in the way their brain functions due to habitual drug use, it is no surprise why so many people attend a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Facility each year to successfully recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

There are many reasons why a person should enroll into a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Program in San Bernardino. A few of the many reasons are: the inability to control or eliminate their drinking or drug use, alienating their friends and family, legal problems, severe depression and general unhappiness due to excessive drug or alcohol use.

Young adults aged 18 to 22 enrolled full time in college were more likely than their peers not enrolled full time (i.e., part time college students and persons not currently enrolled in college) to use alcohol in the past month, binge drink, and drink heavily. Among full time college students in 2008, 61.0 percent were current drinkers, 40.5 percent binge drank, and 16.3 percent were heavy drinkers. Among those not enrolled full time in college, these rates were 54.2, 38.1, and 13.0 percent, respectively. Cocaine is abused using numerous methods. It is snorted, injected swallowed, applied to oral, vaginal, or even rectal mucous membranes and even mixed with liquor. Snorting cocaine is the most common method of administering the drug. When one snorts cocaine they typically place a line of coke, about 0.3 cm wide by 2.5 cm long, on a smooth surface. The finely divided powder is then snorted (inhaled quickly) into a nostril through a plastic or glass straw or a rolled currency bill. This ritual is usually repeated within a few minutes using the other nostril. There are also special spoons and other paraphernalia addicts use for snorting cocaine.

Cocaine is produced from coca leaves. These leaves are stripped from the plant and crushed, chopped, and/or pounded and mixed with a solution of alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or some other solvent that will separate the cocaine from the leaves.

When considering a drug rehab treatment program, remember that everyone?s personal needs are different. In general, the longer and more intense the substance abuse problem, the longer and more intense the treatment you may need. Regardless of a program?s length in weeks or months, long-term follow-up is a crucial component to recovery.

Most MDMA pills are produced in Belgium and the Netherlands, but there have been reports of attempts to establish clandestine MDMA labs in CEWG sites such as Minneapolis, San Diego, and areas of Michigan and South Florida.

After several days of stabilizing a patient that is going through heroin withdrawal using Methadone, the amount could be gradually decreased. The rate at which Methadone is to be decreased is totally dependent on the reaction of the individual that is being treated.
