Sobriety means the moderation in or abstinence from the consumption of alcohol or drugs. Across geographic divisions in 2001, underage current alcohol use rates ranged from 24.2 percent in the East South Central division and 26.8 percent in the Pacific division to 35.0 percent in New England.
