Upland, CaliforniaIntroduction to Upland, California
The California city of Upland is nestled at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains in San Bernardino County. The city is situated 40 miles east of Los Angeles along Interstate I-10, and is bordered by Rancho Cucamonga (to the east), Ontario (to the south), and Claremont (to the west). Other major highways nearby include Interstates I-15 and I-215; and California State Highways 60 and 91.
Already a big citrus production area at the time of its incorporation in 1906, Upland (originally named North Ontario) took shape as a small rural town grounded in an agricultural base. As the 20th century unfolded, the city developed into a residential and retail community, keeping its country and urban flavor while absorbing the cultural influence of its large neighbor to the west, Los Angeles. Nicknamed "The City of Gracious Living", Upland today is a diversified city which still retains its original small town charm.
Points of Interest in Upland
Historic Downtown Upland is a quiet leisurely place replete with antique stores, custom shops, and fine restaurants. The district is also home to a number of annual events and festivals. These include: The Annual Upland Lemon Festival (April), a multi-faceted event which features a carnival, an arts and crafts fair, a children's fair, and three stages with live entertainment. Every Thursday evening from April to October, the Town Center is host to the "Second Avenue Market", a farmers market and street fair with live music, food, kiddie rides, and more. "A Taste of Upland" is a May event which celebrates a century of fine dining and, as the city motto states, gracious living. In December, Upland hosts the Children's Christmas Parade, an annual holiday event. The surrounding area of Southern California is the venue of many notable attractions. A short drive will bring visitors to these sites and also to a wide variety of recreational areas, including a multitude of area beaches and the mountain resorts of Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear.

Do you or someone you care about live in Upland, California and have an addiction to drugs or alcohol? Have you failed at trying to help someone with drug or alcohol addiction in Upland and have lost all hope? Drug and alcohol addiction are an epidemic in our society today. Someone who is addicted to drugs or alcohol is just existing, not living. This can be a very sad and depressing existence to say the least. But all is not lost, and there are ways to treat addiction that actually work. The way out can be found at an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Rehab Center in Upland that will suit your treatment needs.
The reason a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Center in Upland works for the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism is because the individual will learn to overcome problems in life by confronting them, not by numbing them with drugs and alcohol. Once the individual starts confronting and handling life situations, they realize that they can actually cope with their problems and don't feel the need to compound them with drugs or alcohol.
Each individual is different, and there are a variety of treatment programs available in Upland to cater to individual needs. For example, there are Outpatient Drug Rehabilitation Facilities, Short-term Drug Rehabilitation Facilities, Long-term Drug Rehab Centers, Inpatient Drug Treatment Programs, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.
The two main aspects of addiction, physical and psychological, are what the individual will be addressing during the course of treatment at a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility in Upland. Individuals will first begin by addressing the aspect of physical addiction by taking part in a detoxification program in Upland, California, which will help with the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that ensue when a person stops using drugs or alcohol. The brain adapts to the use of a psychoactive substance over time, which lessens the effect of the drug. This is how physical tolerance to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol develops. This is why someone using drugs has to take more and more of the substance to get the same effect. Abruptly stopping substance use is what causes the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms could last for days, weeks or even months depending on the individual's history of abuse. Hardcore drugs such as heroin have a particularly long and painful withdrawal period.
Right off the bat, a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Program in Upland will get the individual started on a professional detoxification accompanied by psychological counseling. At the root of the individual's addiction to drugs or alcohol are these psychological issues. Once addressed, the individual's chances of relapse are decreased markedly.
Due to the structured environment and comprehensive program that an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Facility in Upland, CA. offers, it truly is the most successful method for treating drug and alcohol addiction. There is no stone left unturned, every area where the individual is having problems in life will be addressed.
As part of treatment in Upland, CA., the individual will be trained on how to react appropriately to situations in life and how to change his behavior patterns. Staff of an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Center in Upland will work with the individual on how to respond to his environment, friends, family etc. when he returns home upon completion of treatment. It is expected that the individual will be able to appropriately handle the things which may have initially triggered his drug use. If not, these influences may produce psychological stressors which can cause the person to relapse. That is why professional treatment to address these psychological stressors is such an important aspect of the individual's recovery.
After having discontinued use of drugs or alcohol, research has shown that an addict's brain changes the ways it functions and responds to situations. This is yet another reason it is vital to seek professional help at a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Center in Upland, CA., instead of trying to stop on one's own. There is so much for an addict to overcome to achieve sobriety. It is no easy task, even with help. Seeking help at a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Center in Upland, CA. is an addict's best bet for a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. If you or someone you know is ready for a new life free of drugs and alcohol, find out what treatment options are available at a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Facility in Upland. No time is better than the present to end the cycle of addiction and all of the destruction that it creates. Help is waiting for you or someone you love today.

Did You Know? ... Interesting Facts and Statistics:
Many parents don't realize the deadly effects that inhalants can have on the brain and the body because of the toxicity of the poisons that they contain.
Men and women who smoked marijuana before age 17 are 3.5 times as likely to attempt suicide as those who started later.
In 2005, the number of new nonmedical users of OxyContin® aged 12 or older was 526,000, with an average age at first use of 23.2 years among those aged 12 to 49. These estimates are similar to estimates for 2004 (615,000 and 22.9 years, respectively).
Teens aged 12 to 17 who had engaged in fighting or other delinquent behaviors were more likely than other teens to have used illegal drugs in the lifetime, past year, and past month. For example, in 2006, past month illegal drug use was reported by 17.3 percent of teens who had gotten into serious fights at school or work in the past year compared with 7.6 percent of those who had not engaged in fighting, and by 37.2 percent of those who had stolen or tried to steal something worth over $50 in the past year compared with 8.4 percent of those who had not engaged in such theft.
Estimates of past month use of any illegal drug ranged from a low of 6.1 percent in Iowa to a high of 12.4 percent in the District of Columbia for all persons aged 12 or older. As was indicated in Chapter 1, the 2002 model-based estimates are not comparable with estimates for 2001 and prior years owing to the new methodological improvements.
About 10.1 million persons aged 12 to 20 reported drinking alcohol in the month prior to the survey interview in 2001 (28.5 percent of this age group). Of these, nearly 6.8 million (19.0 percent) were binge drinkers and 2.1 million (6.0 percent) were heavy drinkers. All of these 2001 rates are similar to rates observed in 2000.
