Yorba Linda, California

Introduction to Yorba Linda, California

The city of Yorba Linda is located in Orange County, California, approximately 35 miles southeast of Los Angeles and only 8 miles northeast of Anaheim. Other nearby communities include Diamond Bar (to the north), Corona (to the east), Orange (to the south), and Brea (to the west). Easily accessible to Interstate I-5, the city is surrounded by California State Highways 55, 57, 60, and 91.

Yorba Linda was originally part of a large 1810 land grant from the Spanish government known as Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana. The recipient of the grant was a former Spanish soldier named Jose Antonio Yorba, whose son Bernardo would later combined his father's lands with those granted to him by the Mexican government. In 1908 the Janss Investment Company bought part of the land and named it "Yorba Linda" before subdividing and selling it. The community slowly grew; it's most notable native being Richard Milhous Nixon, who was born in Yorba Linda in 1913 and went on to become the thirty-seventh President of the United States. During the 1960s the population of the small town increased tenfold, and in 1967 Yorba Linda became incorporated as a city.

Yorba Linda, birthplace of Richard M. Nixon, is also the site of the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace, a privately supported institution dedicated to educating the public about the life and times of the nation's 37th President. It is expected that the Nixon Library in 2007 will become a full-fledged part of the Presidential Library system as the twelfth federally-funded Presidential library operated by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Also in Yorba Linda is the historic Susanna Bixby Bryant Ranch, site of the Yorba Linda Heritage Museum where visitors can trace Yorba Linda's unique heritage from Indian times to the first settlement by the Yorba family, and into the modern age. Lovers of the performing arts can enjoy the Yorba Linda Civic Light Opera, which offers professional musical entertainment at the city's beautiful Forum Theater. The last Saturday of every October is a fiesta in Yorba Linda, site of the annual Fiesta Days Parade and Family Faire. Festivities include live entertainment, a play zone for kids, and great food.

Do you have a problem with drug or alcohol addiction and live in Yorba Linda, California? Are you concerned about a family member in Yorba Linda, who has a problem like this? Whatever your situation it's easy to believe that you're alone with this . . . that, somehow, you have to solve the problem all on your own. That is not the case. We care about you - and will help you find a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Program in Yorba Linda, suited to your specific treatment needs. You don't have to deal with drug addiction or alcoholism on your own!

An Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Program in Yorba Linda, is a good option for the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism. The goal of an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Treatment Center in Yorba Linda, CA. is to direct the initial treatment plan toward the ability of the individual to stop using drugs and/or alcohol and hence avoid the psychological, legal, financial, social, and physical consequences that are usually associated with drug addiction and alcoholism.

There are many different addiction treatment approaches such as Long-term Addiction Treatment Programs, Outpatient Addiction Treatment Facilities, Short-term Addiction Treatment Programs, Inpatient Addiction Treatment Facilities, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.

Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers in Yorba Linda, typically focus on the two-fold nature of drug addiction and alcoholism: physical and psychological addiction. Physical addiction can be treated by a detoxification program in Yorba Linda, California with treatment procedure to assist with the painful withdrawal symptoms which manifest themselves when a person discontinues the consumption of a drug or drugs that they are addicted to. With habitual use of a psychoactive substance the brain gradually adapts to the presence of the drug so the desired effect becomes minimal. This is how physical tolerance develops to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol to name a few. It also explains why more and more of the drug is needed to get the same effect with habitual use of an addictive drug. The abrupt cessation of an addictive drug can lead to serious withdrawal symptoms where the body may take weeks or months (depending on the drug involved) to return to normal function. The withdrawal symptoms from certain substances, such as heroin, can induce severe and painful withdrawal symptoms, and be quite prolonged.

An Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Facility in Yorba Linda, will not only provide the person with a professional detox but also provide a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Program for the psychological issues inevitably underlying all drug and alcohol addiction problems, so as to decrease the chances of relapse and increase the chances of a clean and sober life.

An Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Program in Yorba Linda, CA. is more likely to be one of the most successful methods for treating an individual with a severe drug addiction problem. Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facilities in Yorba Linda, are designed to deliver a comprehensive treatment curriculum and assist a person in every facet of their life 24 hours a day.

For a person to make a successful recovery, they must acquire new knowledge, abilities and 'life skills'. This new knowledge, abilities and life skills must be directed toward strategies for returning home to Yorba Linda, from an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Center and encountering old drug using acquaintances in Yorba Linda - as well as ways to handle the many reminders and triggers of their past drug using days in Yorba Linda. These triggers can produce memories which can produce psychological stressors. These psychological stressors often hinder the recovering addict, making it very difficult for them to feel as though they have control over their actions concerning drug using impulses. This is because research into the brain of addicts shows changes in the way their brain functions long after they have discontinued using drugs and/or alcohol. This is the main reason why even an individual with will power as strong as steel may find it extremely difficult to overcome drug addiction or alcoholism without professional addiction treatment. With so many obstacles such as triggers, drug cravings, and changes in the way their brain functions due to habitual drug use, it is no surprise why so many people attend an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Program each year to successfully recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

There are many reasons why a person should enroll into a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Center in Yorba Linda. A few of the many reasons are: the inability to control or eliminate their drinking or drug use, alienating their friends and family, legal problems, severe depression and general unhappiness due to excessive drug or alcohol use.

Interesting Facts and Statistics:

As with other amphetamines, tolerance to methamphetamine is not completely understood, but known to be sufficiently complex that it cannot be explained by any single mechanism. The extent of tolerance and the rate at which it develops varies widely between individuals, and even within one person it is highly dependent on dosage, duration of use and frequency of administration. Many cases of narcolepsy were treated with methamphetamine for years without escalating doses or any apparent loss of effect.

During 2004, 7.2% of federal prisoners reported using methamphetamine in the month prior to offense.

Marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug, meaning it has a high potential for abuse and no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.

When people mix cocaine and alcohol consumption, they are compounding the danger each drug poses. The human liver combines cocaine and alcohol and manufactures a third substance, cocaethylene, which intensifies cocaine's euphoric effects, while possibly increasing the risk of sudden death.

Among women aged 15 to 44, combined data for 2007 and 2008 indicated that the rate of past month cigarette use was lower among those who were pregnant (16.4 percent) than it was among those who were not pregnant (27.3 percent). This pattern was also evident among women aged 18 to 25 (22.1 vs. 32.3 percent for pregnant and nonpregnant women, respectively) and among women aged 26 to 44 (12.6 vs. 27.4 percent, respectively). However, among those aged 15 to 17, the rate of cigarette smoking was higher for pregnant women than nonpregnant women (20.6 vs. 14.7 percent), although the difference was not statistically significant.

In 2006, the prevalence of current use of a tobacco product among persons aged 12 or older was 16.0 percent for Asians, 24.4 percent for Hispanics, 29.1 percent for blacks, 31.4 percent for whites, 34.2 percent for persons who reported two or more races, and 42.3 percent for American Indians or Alaska Natives. There were no statistically significant changes in past month tobacco use between 2005 and 2006 for any of these racial/ethnic groups.
