While drug doses vary by individual, a common OxyContin dose prescribed by physicians ranges from two to four tablets per day.
Cigarette smoking in the past month tended to be less prevalent among adults with more education. Among adults aged 18 or older, current cigarette use in 2005 was reported by 34.8 percent of those who had not completed high school, 31.8 percent of high school graduates who did not attend college, 28.1 percent of persons with some college, and 13.8 percent of college graduates.
Heroin users who snort or smoke heroin at times graduate to injection because as their bodies become conditioned to the drug, the effects it produces are less intense. Heroin injection is a more efficient means of administering the drug allowing for more intense effects.
Amphetamines users may be more prone to illness because they are generally run down, lack sleep, and live in an unhealthy environment.
Among full-time college students aged 18 to 22, there were increases from 2007 to 2008 in the current rate of use of hallucinogens (from 1.0 to 2.1 percent). Increases were seen for the specific hallucinogens Ecstasy (from 0.5 to 1.2 percent) and LSD (from 0.3 to 0.6 percent). There were no significant changes in the rates of current use for any drugs among persons aged 18 to 22 who were not full-time college students.
