Drug detox is the first step in the Palisade, CO. rehabilitation treatment process toward recovery from a drug and alcohol addiction. The main goal in this component of the Palisade Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Rehab Facility is to rid the body of toxins that accumulate over the course of a long term drug or alcohol addiction. It is very common to see individuals from Palisade, CO. in drug detox that has combined different drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, or pain pills with alcohol.

When an individual from Palisade has sustained the use of any of these various kinds of drugs, it causes adaptations within their body that lessen the drug's original effects over time; this is a phenomenon that is known as drug tolerance. At this point, the individual from Palisade, Colorado has developed a physical dependency on the substance and withdrawal symptoms will be experienced upon discontinuation. The reason that it is imperative that an individual from Palisade have professional supervision during the detox process is because the staff at a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Center can help to make this process much easier by administering elements of treatment that can help to alleviate some of the painful withdrawal symptoms.

Once the early stages of withdrawal have passed, an individual from Palisade will then be able to begin a directed, Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Program that will begin to address aspects of the psychological dependency by teaching behavioral skills that will help them to function without the use of alcohol or drugs. This component in drug recovery treatment will usually involve some type of individual or group counseling. There may also be occupational and behavioral therapies that are utilized as components of treatment in order to help to teach the individual from Palisade, CO. life and social skills that may have been lost while they were under the influence of addiction.

Before an addict is finally willing to surrender to the Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Facility process, they may have already made repeated promises to their loved ones in Palisade who have been experiencing the negative effects from the individual's drug or alcohol abuse; because of the way that these substances chemically alter the person's brain, these empty promises cannot be fulfilled. If loved ones in Palisade, Colorado continue to believe these empty promises, it could possible mean that the addicted person will then have time to overdose on drugs or have a serious car accident while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

In an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Center, the individual from Palisade will become educated about the ways that drugs and alcohol affect the various functions of the brain; they will learn that it was these physiological changes that made it almost impossible for them to stop using on their own, and not personal integrity. As an individual from Palisade, CO. learns more about how to deal with drug triggers and as they master to the tools that they will need to use in order to stay sober when they return home to Palisade, they will become confident in their ability to do so.

Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Among persons aged 12 to 20 in 2004, past month alcohol use rates were 16.4 percent among Asians, 19.1 percent among blacks, 24.3 percent among American Indians or Alaska Natives, 26.4 percent among those reporting two or more races, 26.6 percent among Hispanics, and 32.6 percent among whites.

Among 12 to 17 year olds who had past year MDE, 38.0 percent had used illegal drugs during the same period. This was significantly more than the 18.0 percent of teens who did not have past year MDE who used illegal drugs during the past year. This pattern was similar for specific types of illegal drug use, including marijuana, cocaine, hallucinogens, inhalants, and the nonmedical use of prescription-type psychotherapeutics.

It is important to emphasize the fact that the more drug abuse begins to affect and manipulate an individual?s life, the more likely it is that they have a drug problem that eventually can develop into a full-blown addiction.

Methadone does not make addiction and drug dependence better, as the word "treatment" means to remedy a health problem. The use of this drug leaves the addict completely dependent on and in effect addicted to, methadone instead of other opiates such as heroin.

Long-term users of Ativan have been reported to develop a tolerance to the drug. This requires them to take more and more of the drug to achieve the desired effects.

Years of research have conclusively indicated to us that addictions to both prescription drugs and illegal drugs are the same in terms of providing drug recovery treatment However, no single type of drug rehab treatment is appropriate for all of the individuals that have developed an addiction to prescription drugs. The drug rehab treatment program must take into account the type of drug that has been abused and the needs of the individual.
