Pueblo, ColoradoIntroduction to Pueblo, Colorado
The Colorado city of Pueblo, county seat of Pueblo County, is situated in the southern part of the state along the banks of the Arkansas River. Serviced principally by Interstate Highway I-25, the city is surrounded by several other major thoroughfares including Colorado State Highways 45, 96, and U.S. Route 50. Pueblo also has a local airport, Pueblo Municipal Airport, located east of the city. Pueblo is home to a satellite campus of Colorado State University and was the former hometown of noted newspaper columnist Damon Runyan.
The history of Pueblo dates back to the mid-19th century when the community was known as Fort Pueblo. The Colorado Gold Rush of 1859 spawned settlement in the area and four towns emerged: Pueblo (incorporated in 1870), South Pueblo (incorporated in 1873), Central Pueblo (incorporated in 1882), and Bessemer (incorporated in 1886). The present-day city of Pueblo was formed from the merger of these four towns into a single city. A momentous setback in the city's history occurred in 1921 when one of Colorado's most well known natural disasters struck. The Great Flood of 1921 was responsible for thousands of lost lives and millions of dollars in damage to the city. Recovery was slow but steady, and throughout most of the 20th century the city relied on steel production as its principal industry. In recent years, Pueblo has made a concerted effort to diversify its economic base, and the city today boasts an industrial park and a revitalized downtown area and is now home to a number of electronics and aviation companies.
Pueblo Attractions
Pueblo offers its visitors and residents numerous museums, cultural amenities, and events to enjoy. The El Pueblo History Museum, known as the "Cultural Crossroads on the Arkansas", includes an 1840s-style adobe trading post and showcases the history of the city and of the various cultural and ethnic groups in the region. The Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum houses an expansive memorabilia collection which includes authentic military uniforms of bygone eras, arms and other relics of American Wars. The Rosemount Museum, often called "Colorado's Crown Jewel", is housed in an 1893-built 37-room mansion whose furnishings, accessories, paintings, custom paneling, wall and window treatments are nearly all original to the home. Pueblo's Fire Museum is located in the only remaining firehouse in Pueblo that housed horse-drawn fire equipment and one of two remaining that has the famous brass pole still intact. The Pueblo Railway Museum is home to the massive AT&SF #2912, the largest steam locomotive of its type built, and three operating GP-7 diesel locomotives. The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center houses a 500-seat theater, studio/classroom spaces, a dance studio and a conference/banquet facility. The site is also home to the Buell Childrens Museum, which offers interactive exhibits focusing on the arts, science and history for people of all ages. The Pueblo Zoo exhibits more than 400 animals of 130 species from around the world.
Pueblo is the home of Colorado's largest single event, the Colorado State Fair. The Fair, which began in 1872, is held annually in the late summer. Since its inception, the Fair has changed locations several times, but has settled to its present-day location on over 100 acres of landscaped turf. The Fair houses several historical structures and has traditionally included numerous celebrity concerts and a wide and changing array of activities for visitors to enjoy. It continues to be a focal point for the Pueblo community.
Pueblo has no professional sports teams but boasts a semi-pro team, the Pueblo Chieftains. The Chieftains play in the National Baseball Congress and have been very successful despite a roster that consists largely of college players. Professional sports can be found by taking a two-hour drive north to the city of Denver. Major league teams in that city include baseball's Colorado Rockies, basketball's Denver Nuggets, and football's Denver Broncos. Hockey in Denver is played by the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL and soccer by the Colorado Rapids of the MLS. Other Denver area teams include the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League and the Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League.

Are drugs and alcohol creating destruction in your life in Pueblo, CO.? Do you know of someone in Pueblo, CO. that is going down the dark path of drug or alcohol addiction? It is very easy for someone to fall into the trap of addiction, but an individual soon realizes that it is extremely difficult to kick an addiction. That is where an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Treatment Center in Pueblo comes in, to assist with the seemingly impossible task of treating individuals who have lost hope at ever being sober and happy again.
A Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Facility in Pueblo treats drug addiction and alcoholism by ingraining in an addict that drugs and alcohol are not the solution to their problems and difficulties in life. It teaches an addict that all of their problems have solutions, solutions that can be found through cognitive reasoning and common sense. A Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Program in Pueblo would put the individual in the frame of mind to overcome life's obstacles by confronting them head on, and obliterates the person's desire to use drugs as a way out.
There are many different types of in-patient and out-patient treatment programs available in Pueblo, CO., because each individual has different needs. Examples of programs available in Pueblo are Outpatient Addiction Treatment Programs, Short-term Addiction Treatment, Inpatient Drug Treatment Programs, Long-term Drug Rehab Centers, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.
Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers in Pueblo have a two-prong approach to treatment, both the physical and psychological causes and effects of drug and alcohol addiction. As the individual's brain adapts to the use of a psychoactive substance over time, the effect that the drug creates within the body is lessened. Due to this physical tolerance, more and more drugs or alcohol must be consumed to get high or even get a buzz.
The physical aspect of addiction is the first thing an addict will address when making the decision to seek treatment for addiction. A detoxification program in Pueblo, Colorado delivered by a qualified Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Program will navigate the addict through the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that are caused by abruptly coming off of drugs or alcohol. These withdrawal symptoms can last for days, weeks or months; all depending on the drug of choice and individual circumstances. Heroin withdrawal for example will take a considerable amount of time to detox and is a highly painful and uncomfortable process. Detoxification and psychological counseling right from get-go will put the individual on the right path to address issues involved with drug and alcohol abuse. This gives the individual a better chance of having a lasting recovery and prevents relapse.
A Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Center in Pueblo, CO. takes the individual out of the environment which may have triggered their addiction, and offers an environment that will ensure a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The individual will be given tools to better handle life situations and triggers which may have caused their drug use. When the individual completes treatment and does return home, he will do so with a new ability to handle triggers, which will no longer have an influence over him, his actions and behavior.
People who have abused drugs and alcohol shows changes in their brain. Research shows that these changes in the brain effect how an addict responds to situations. Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facilities are aware of this and know that an addict will need more than high hopes to beat addiction. This is yet another reason why professional treatment at a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Center in Pueblo, CO. is so important.
There are a lot of reasons to seek treatment today, mainly because most people who try to kick the habit on their own will fail and just start using drugs or alcohol again. Tackling addiction and getting control of your life can be achieved by seeking treatment at a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Facility in Pueblo, CO. It doesn't have to be another failure, sobriety can be achieved with the right technology and the care and support of people who want to see you winning again. Don't think about it, do something about it and get your life or the life of someone you care about on the road to a sober and happy life today. Treatment can begin immediately by finding which option is best for you at one of the many Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Programs in Pueblo, CO.

Tennessee had the lowest rate (7.4 percent) of past year use of marijuana among persons aged 12 or older. Alaska had the highest rate of past year marijuana use among persons aged 12 or older (16.7 percent). Heroin overdose takes the lives of many users each year. It is not a surprise that those who abuse heroin are at an increased risk of death. Their excess mortality rate ranges between six to twenty times their peers who are of the same age and gender and have not abused heroin. The causes of this excess mortality are manifold, including HIV/AIDS, hepatitis and violence. Despite the HIV pandemic among injecting drug users, deaths attributed to overdose remain a major cause of mortality for heroin users, and in many countries is the leading cause of death. Typically, boys are the most predominant casualties of a heroin overdose. With around 80% of heroin overdose deaths reported being male.
Recent data that has been gathered in government studies concerning drug abuse in the United States, has indicated that individuals who are addicted to Vicodin and similar opiates, make up a large percentage of people that are federally charged due to the practice of "doctor shopping" between 2009-2010.
Quality drug rehab addiction treatment should include behavioral therapy such as counseling, cognitive therapy, or any combination thereof.
