Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers in Northwest Harwinton will target both the physical and psychological aspects of addiction. Individuals are treated for physical addiction by undergoing a detoxification program in Northwest Harwinton, Connecticut to assist with the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms which result when an addict discontinues use of a substance they are addicted to. Continued use of a psychoactive substance over time causes the brain to adapt to the presence of the drug, making the desired effect minimal. Physical tolerance to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol develops in this way. Over time, more and more of the addictive drug is required to get the same effect. Quitting an addictive drug abruptly causes serious withdrawal symptoms, which may take the body weeks or months to return to normal function. Withdrawing from hardcore drugs such as heroin can cause extremely severe and painful withdrawal symptoms, which can last for quite some time.

An Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Facility in Northwest Harwinton will be able to administer a professional detox as well as assistance with psychological issues. These underlying psychological issues are at the root of all drug and alcohol addiction problems. Addressing this head on will decrease the chances of relapse and increase the chances of a fully rehabilitated and contributing member of society. A Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Program in Northwest Harwinton, CT. has proven to be the most successful method for treating an individual with a severe drug addiction problem. An Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Rehab Facility in Northwest Harwinton, follows a rigid, comprehensive program to ensure a successful recovery. This program addresses every aspect of addiction and every area where the person could be having trouble.

To ensure a lasting recovery, the individual must gain the knowledge, abilities and "life tools" to change their behavior and reaction to situations. The individual's program will be focused on strategies for returning home to Northwest Harwinton, from a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Program and even running into prior drug using friends or acquaintances in Northwest Harwinton. Upon completion of their program, the individual will be able to deal with the reminders and triggers in Northwest Harwinton which may have prompted their drug use, as these same triggers can produce psychological stressors. These psychological stressors, if not addressed, can make it very hard for an individual to control their response to drug using impulses. Research has shown that an addict shows changes in the way their brain functions after having discontinued using drugs and/or alcohol. Because of this, even an individual with the best of intentions may find it extremely hard to overcome drug addiction or alcoholism without professional addiction treatment.

So you can see that a recovering addict has a lot to deal with when deciding to kick the habit. With triggers, drug cravings, and changes in the way their brain functions due to habitual drug use, seeking help at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Program to successfully recovery from drug and alcohol addiction is a no-brainer.

A person that is serious about the decision to get sober should enroll in a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Center in Northwest Harwinton, CT. Why fail again on your own? Why lose another friend or push a family member even further away? Why beg, cheat, and steal just to get drugs or alcohol, risking legal problems and jail time? You don't have to be depressed and unhappy because of excessive drug or alcohol use. There is help available, even for the most severe addicts.

Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Heroin withdrawal can produce effects such as drug craving, restlessness, muscle and bone pain, and vomiting.

Studies show that stimulation of opiate receptors by opiates results in feelings of reward, and activate the pleasure circuit by causing greater amounts of dopamine to be released within the brain.

In 2006, 38.9 percent of teens aged 12 to 17 with past year MDE received treatment for depression (saw or talked to a medical doctor or other professional or used prescription medication). Among teens with past year MDE, 23.9 percent saw or talked to a medical doctor or other professional only, 2.1 percent used prescription medication only, and 12.7 percent received treatment from both sources for depression in the past year.

States in the Northeast (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont) and the West (Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington) had the lowest rates of perceived great risk of using marijuana occasionally (once a month) among persons aged 12 or older. Only about 27 percent of all persons aged 12 or older in Washington thought that occasional use was a great risk (Table B.4). Eight of the States having the lowest perceived risks also had rates in the highest fifth for past month marijuana use for persons aged 12 or older. Similarly, of the 10 States indicating the highest perceived risk of occasional marijuana use among persons aged 12 or older, five had past month marijuana use rates that were in the lowest fifth (Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Mississippi, and Texas).

In addition to being marketed as "bath salts", some of these new designer drugs are also being sold as bath crystals, plant food and herbal incense.

Fortunately, drug addiction is a learned behavior; drug addiction recovery is unlearning addiction so that being sober instead becomes habitual. Drug and alcohol addiction recovery is a multi-step process, which mean that getting stable as well as staying stable are both equally important in one?s life long after treatment.
