Do you live in Lawrenceville, Georgia and have an addiction to drugs or alcohol? Is someone you know or care about battling drug or alcohol addiction and needs help? Drug and alcohol addiction exists everywhere in society today, and when an individual is caught up in addiction it can seem that there is no way out. There is in fact a way out, and it can be found at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Facility in Lawrenceville.

A Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility in Lawrenceville treats drug addiction and alcoholism by teaching the individual how to overcome problems in life with real solutions, and that drugs and alcohol are not the answer. This can empower the individual, and put them in a position to start winning and achieving their goals. The end result of treatment at an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Center in Lawrenceville would be the individual being able to work their way through life and its obstacles, without the need or desire to use drugs or alcohol.

Due to the varying needs of individuals seeking treatment, there are a number of treatment programs available in Lawrenceville to care for someone addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. There are Short-term Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs, Inpatient Treatment Facilities, Long-term Treatment Facilities, Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.

Treatment at an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Treatment Program in Lawrenceville will hone in on the two main causes of addiction, physical and psychological. Over time, the individual's brain adapts to the use of a psychoactive substance, lessening the effect of the drug. Physical tolerance develops as a result. The person ends up having to take more and more drugs or alcohol to try and get back to that first initial high that got them hooked.

Upon commencing treatment, an individual will address the physical aspect of addiction by taking part in a detoxification program in Lawrenceville, Georgia, which will get him through the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that are caused by abrupt cessation of a substance. Withdrawal symptoms can typically last for days, weeks or months depending on the type of substance you're dealing with. Heroin withdrawal for example may take quite some time to get through, and is particularly painful. Detoxification along with psychological counseling will get the individual in the right frame of mind to start addressing the psychological issues that are involved with the addiction to drugs or alcohol. This method greatly increases the individual's chances of a successful recovery and prevents relapse.

A Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Center in Lawrenceville, GA. offers a sane environment that is conducive to a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The individual will be taught how to properly handle life situations and control their own behavior in response to their environment. When the individual returns home following treatment, he will do so with a new mindset on how to engage with friends, family etc. The influences which may have triggered addiction in the individual will not have the same power over him. As part of treatment the individual will have addressed these psychological stressors as a priority and they will no longer have an effect on him.

Studies have shown that an individual who is addicted to drugs and alcohol shows changes in their brain, specifically the way it functions and responds to situations. This is an important reason that professional help at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Center in Lawrenceville, GA. is the best option to try and beat addiction.

Someone who is caught up in the destructive cycle of addiction is up against a lot, the odds may seem against him. But they aren't if he pursues treatment at a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Program in Lawrenceville, GA. Treatment exists so that the addict is given the best chance at a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. There is hope for you or someone you care about. Addiction has a cure, and treatment at an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facility in Lawrenceville is that cure. Don't wait another minute to get the help you deserve.

Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Of the 6.2 million people who needed but did not receive specialty treatment for illegal drug use in 2006, 496,000 (8.0 percent) reported that they perceived a need for treatment for their illegal drug use problem. Of the 496,000 persons who felt a need for treatment in 2006 (similar to the number reported in 2005, 601,000 persons), 182,000 (36.6 percent) reported that they made an effort and 314,000 (63.4 percent) reported making no effort to get treatment.

The number of recent new users of methamphetamine taken nonmedically among persons aged 12 or older was 192,000 in 2005. Between 2002 and 2004, the number of methamphetamine initiates remained steady at around 300,000 per year, but there was a decline from 2004 (318,000 initiates) to 2005. The average age of new methamphetamine users aged 12 to 49 was 18.9 years in 2002, 20.4 years in 2003, 20.6 years in 2004, and 18.6 years in 2005.

Among teens with past year dependence on or abuse of illegal drugs or alcohol, 21.7 percent had at least one MDE in the past year, higher than the 7.7 percent with MDE in the past year among adolescents with no past year dependence or abuse.

In 2005, 15.5 percent of teens aged 12 to 17 indicated that they had been approached by someone selling drugs in the past month, similar to the 16.3 percent reported in 2004. Teens who reported being approached by someone selling drugs, compared with those who reported no such approaches, were much more likely to have used an illegal drug in their lifetime (61.3 vs. 21.5 percent), in the past year (51.2 vs. 14.1 percent), and in the past month (32.6 vs. 5.8 percent).

Treatment need is defined as having a substance use disorder or receiving treatment at a specialty facility (hospital inpatient, drug or alcohol rehabilitation, or mental health centers) within the past 12 months. In 2007, 23.2 million persons aged 12 or older needed treatment for an illegal drug or alcohol use problem (9.4 percent of persons aged 12 or older). Of these, 2.4 million (1.0 percent of persons aged 12 or older and 10.4 percent of those who needed treatment) received treatment at a specialty facility. Thus, 20.8 million persons (8.4 percent of the population aged 12 or older) needed treatment for an illegal drug or alcohol use problem but did not receive treatment at a specialty substance abuse facility in the past year.

As was the case from 2002 through 2004, boys aged 12 or older in 2005 were about twice as likely to be classified with substance dependence or abuse as girls (12.0 vs. 6.4 percent). Among teens aged 12 to 17, however, the rate of substance dependence or abuse among boys was similar to the rate among girls (7.8 vs. 8.3 percent).
