The rate of past month alcohol use increased with increasing levels of education. Among adults aged 18 or older with less than a high school education, 33.4 percent were current drinkers in 2001, while 65.2 percent of college graduates were current drinkers. However, binge drinking and heavy drinking were least prevalent among college graduates.

Amphetamine products often contain substances that do not easily dissolve in water. When users inject amphetamines, these particles can pass into the body and block small blood vessels or weaken the blood vessel walls. Kidney damage, lung problems, strokes, or other tissue injury may result.

The percentage of teens aged 12 to 17 perceiving great risk in having five or more drinks of an alcoholic beverage once or twice a week increased from 38.2 percent in 2002 to 40.5 percent in 2008. The rate of past month binge alcohol use among teens decreased from 10.7 percent in 2002 to 8.8 percent in 2008.
