Ecstasy is a relatively simple chemical belonging to the amphetamine family of compounds, which has properties of both stimulants and hallucinogens.

Among people who needed but did not receive illegal drug use treatment and felt they needed treatment (based on 2004 2006 combined data), the six most often reported reasons for not receiving treatment were (a) no health coverage and could not afford cost (35.1 percent), (b) not ready to stop using (31.8 percent), (c) not knowing where to go for treatment (14.7 percent), (d) concern that getting treatment might cause neighbors/community to have negative opinion (13.5 percent), (e) possible negative effect on job (12.8 percent), and (f) being able to handle the problem without treatment (12.4 percent).

When Dilaudid is injected, the body feels warm and heavy and the user experiences a dry mouth. The user then proceeds to goes into a stupor. The dose required for this effect may cause an individual to experience restlessness, nausea, and vomiting.

The rate of current use of any tobacco product among persons aged 12 or older remained steady from 2007 to 2008 (28.6 and 28.4 percent, respectively). The rates of current use of cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, cigars, and pipe tobacco also did not change significantly over that period. Between 2002 and 2008, past month use of any tobacco product decreased from 30.4 to 28.4 percent, and past month cigarette use declined from 26.0 to 23.9 percent. Rates of past month use of cigars, smokeless tobacco, and pipe tobacco were similar in 2002 and 2008.

With snorting cocaine, the usual ritual is to place a line of coke, about 0.3 cm wide by 2.5 cm long, on a smooth surface. The finely divided powder is then snorted (inhaled quickly) into a nostril through a plastic or glass straw or a rolled currency bill. This ritual is usually repeated within a few minutes using the other nostril.
