Do you live in Lewis, Iowa and have an addiction to drugs or alcohol? Is someone you know or care about battling drug or alcohol addiction and needs help? Drug and alcohol addiction exists everywhere in society today, and when an individual is caught up in addiction it can seem that there is no way out. There is in fact a way out, and it can be found at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Facility in Lewis.
An Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Program in Lewis treats drug addiction and alcoholism by teaching the individual how to overcome problems in life with real solutions, and that drugs and alcohol are not the answer. This can empower the individual, and put them in a position to start winning and achieving their goals. The end result of treatment at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Facility in Lewis would be the individual being able to work their way through life and its obstacles, without the need or desire to use drugs or alcohol.
Due to the varying needs of individuals seeking treatment, there are a number of treatment programs available in Lewis to care for someone addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. There are Short-term Drug Rehabs, Inpatient Addiction Treatment Programs, Long-term Addiction Treatment, Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.
Treatment at an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Rehab Center in Lewis will hone in on the two main causes of addiction, physical and psychological. Over time, the individual's brain adapts to the use of a psychoactive substance, lessening the effect of the drug. Physical tolerance develops as a result. The person ends up having to take more and more drugs or alcohol to try and get back to that first initial high that got them hooked.
Upon commencing treatment, an individual will address the physical aspect of addiction by taking part in a detoxification program in Lewis, Iowa, which will get him through the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that are caused by abrupt cessation of a substance. Withdrawal symptoms can typically last for days, weeks or months depending on the type of substance you're dealing with. Heroin withdrawal for example may take quite some time to get through, and is particularly painful. Detoxification along with psychological counseling will get the individual in the right frame of mind to start addressing the psychological issues that are involved with the addiction to drugs or alcohol. This method greatly increases the individual's chances of a successful recovery and prevents relapse.
A Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility in Lewis, IA. offers a sane environment that is conducive to a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The individual will be taught how to properly handle life situations and control their own behavior in response to their environment. When the individual returns home following treatment, he will do so with a new mindset on how to engage with friends, family etc. The influences which may have triggered addiction in the individual will not have the same power over him. As part of treatment the individual will have addressed these psychological stressors as a priority and they will no longer have an effect on him.
Studies have shown that an individual who is addicted to drugs and alcohol shows changes in their brain, specifically the way it functions and responds to situations. This is an important reason that professional help at a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Center in Lewis, IA. is the best option to try and beat addiction.
Someone who is caught up in the destructive cycle of addiction is up against a lot, the odds may seem against him. But they aren't if he pursues treatment at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Center in Lewis, IA. Treatment exists so that the addict is given the best chance at a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. There is hope for you or someone you care about. Did You Know? ... Interesting Facts and Statistics:
The top fifth for average annual incidence of marijuana for persons aged 12 or older was comprised mostly of States from the West (five) and from the Northeast (four). Seven States ranked in the top fifth for marijuana incidence in the 12 or older age group also ranked in the top fifth for past month marijuana use (Alaska, Colorado, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Because most initiation of marijuana takes place at age 25 or earlier (Gfroerer, Wu, & Penne, 2002), the rates of initiation in the 26 or older age group were much lower than those in the 12 to 17 and 18 to 25 age groups: 0.1, 6.6, and 6.8, respectively. Vermont had the highest rate among teens aged 12 to 17 (10.4), while New Hampshire had the highest rate among persons aged 18 to 25 (11.1) (Table B.5). In the 12 or older age group, seven States from the South were ranked in the lowest fifth for incidence of marijuana.
Among full-time college students aged 18 to 22, there were increases from 2007 to 2008 in the current rate of use of hallucinogens (from 1.0 to 2.1 percent). Increases were seen for the specific hallucinogens Ecstasy (from 0.5 to 1.2 percent) and LSD (from 0.3 to 0.6 percent). There were no significant changes in the rates of current use for any drugs among persons aged 18 to 22 who were not full-time college students.
Among the 5.4 million adults with both SPD and substance dependence or abuse (i.e., a substance use disorder) in 2007, nearly half (46.5 percent) received mental health care or substance use treatment at a specialty facility; 10.4 percent received both mental health care and specialty substance use treatment, 33.3 percent received only mental health care, and 2.8 percent received only specialty substance use treatment.
Ecstasy use may cause muscle tension, nausea, blurred vision, and increase heart rate and blood pressure.
The causes of drug addiction are many, but several key areas can often be pinpointed. Drugs and alcohol have been known to be used in order to attempt to kill the pain of ordinary life; they destroy the physical and emotional pain by changing an addict?s perception on life. Drugs and alcohol use does not really change anything; the only thing that occurs is that the use of drugs or alcohol makes the addict become numb to the pain and unhappiness that is a part of their lives.
The largest increase in initiation of cigar smoking occurred during the late 1980s to 1990s, from 1.3 million in 1988 to 4.3 million in 1998. After 1998, cigar initiation decreased to 3.1 million in 2000. From 1965 until 1996, there were more cigar initiates among 18 to 25 year olds than among 12 to 17 year olds. From 1997 to 2000, the number of new cigar users aged 12 to 17 exceeded the number of 18- to 25-year-old initiates.
