In 2005, rates of past year SPD were lowest among Asians at 7.2 percent. When addiction is treated as the long-term relapsing condition that it really is, with long term inpatient drug rehab treatment, success rates have the potential to skyrocket.

Among teens aged 12 to 17 in 2005, the rate of current illegal drug use was highest among American Indians or Alaska Natives, about twice the overall rate among teens (19.2 vs. 9.9 percent, respectively). The rates for other groups were 11.0 percent among blacks, 10.1 percent among whites, 9.7 percent among those reporting two or more races, 9.4 percent among Hispanics, and 3.3 percent among Asians.
