Do you have a problem with drug or alcohol addiction and live in Cambridge, Maryland? Are you concerned about a family member in Cambridge, who has a problem like this? Whatever your situation it's easy to believe that you're alone with this . . . that, somehow, you have to solve the problem all on your own. That is not the case. We care about you - and will help you find a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Program in Cambridge, suited to your specific treatment needs. You don't have to deal with drug addiction or alcoholism on your own!

An Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Center in Cambridge, is a good option for the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism. The goal of an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Rehab Center in Cambridge, MD. is to direct the initial treatment plan toward the ability of the individual to stop using drugs and/or alcohol and hence avoid the psychological, legal, financial, social, and physical consequences that are usually associated with drug addiction and alcoholism.

There are many different addiction treatment approaches such as Long-term Rehab Programs, Outpatient Addiction Treatment Facilities, Short-term Addiction Treatment Programs, Inpatient Rehab Programs, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.

Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers in Cambridge, typically focus on the two-fold nature of drug addiction and alcoholism: physical and psychological addiction. Physical addiction can be treated by a detoxification program in Cambridge, Maryland with treatment procedure to assist with the painful withdrawal symptoms which manifest themselves when a person discontinues the consumption of a drug or drugs that they are addicted to. With habitual use of a psychoactive substance the brain gradually adapts to the presence of the drug so the desired effect becomes minimal. This is how physical tolerance develops to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol to name a few. It also explains why more and more of the drug is needed to get the same effect with habitual use of an addictive drug. The abrupt cessation of an addictive drug can lead to serious withdrawal symptoms where the body may take weeks or months (depending on the drug involved) to return to normal function. The withdrawal symptoms from certain substances, such as heroin, can induce severe and painful withdrawal symptoms, and be quite prolonged.

A Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Facility in Cambridge, will not only provide the person with a professional detox but also provide an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Center for the psychological issues inevitably underlying all drug and alcohol addiction problems, so as to decrease the chances of relapse and increase the chances of a clean and sober life.

A Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Center in Cambridge, MD. is more likely to be one of the most successful methods for treating an individual with a severe drug addiction problem. Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facilities in Cambridge, are designed to deliver a comprehensive treatment curriculum and assist a person in every facet of their life 24 hours a day.

For a person to make a successful recovery, they must acquire new knowledge, abilities and 'life skills'. This new knowledge, abilities and life skills must be directed toward strategies for returning home to Cambridge, from a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Center and encountering old drug using acquaintances in Cambridge - as well as ways to handle the many reminders and triggers of their past drug using days in Cambridge. These triggers can produce memories which can produce psychological stressors. These psychological stressors often hinder the recovering addict, making it very difficult for them to feel as though they have control over their actions concerning drug using impulses. This is because research into the brain of addicts shows changes in the way their brain functions long after they have discontinued using drugs and/or alcohol. This is the main reason why even an individual with will power as strong as steel may find it extremely difficult to overcome drug addiction or alcoholism without professional addiction treatment. With so many obstacles such as triggers, drug cravings, and changes in the way their brain functions due to habitual drug use, it is no surprise why so many people attend an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Facility each year to successfully recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

There are many reasons why a person should enroll into an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Program in Cambridge. A few of the many reasons are: the inability to control or eliminate their drinking or drug use, alienating their friends and family, legal problems, severe depression and general unhappiness due to excessive drug or alcohol use.

Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Among young adults 18 to 22 years old, full time college students were less likely to be current cigarette smokers than their peers who were not enrolled full time in college. Cigarette use in the past month in 2008 was reported by 27.2 percent of full time college students, less than the rate of 40.6 percent for those not enrolled full time.

Drug addiction results in painful and uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms when the drug use is abruptly discontinued. The discomfort that is associated with these symptoms frequently provides drug users with another reason to continue their destructive drug behavior.

Past month illegal drug use also was associated with the level of past month alcohol use. Among teens aged 12 to 17 in 2008 who were heavy drinkers (i.e., consumed five or more drinks on the same occasion on each of 5 or more days in the past 30 days), 68.5 percent also were current illegal drug users, which was higher than the rate among nondrinkers (4.3 percent). The rate of current illegal drug use among teens reporting heavy drinking in the past month increased from 60.1 percent in 2007 to 68.5 percent in 2008, and a similar increase in illegal drug use (from 37.9 to 42.6 percent) was seen among teens who engaged in binge drinking (i.e., consumption of five or more drinks on the same occasion on at least 1 day in the past month).

One of the reasons that bath salts are so popular is that it may not yet be detectable in standard drug test protocols.

Nationally, 6.2 percent of all persons aged 12 or older reported using marijuana in the past month in 2002.2003. Because marijuana is the predominant substance used by those using an illegal drug, States that had high prevalence rates for any illegal drug also had high prevalence rates for past month use of marijuana. Eight out of ten States in the top fifth for use of an illegal drug for persons aged 12 or older also were ranked in the top fifth for past month use of marijuana. In the 12 to 17 age group, seven States were in the top fifth for both use of any illegal drug and use of marijuana: Colorado, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Vermont. Eight States were common to the top fifth for past month marijuana use among persons aged 12 or older and teens aged 12 to 17: Alaska, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The States with the lowest rates of past month use of marijuana among persons aged 12 or older were in the South: Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas. The other States in the lowest fifth were Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, New Jersey, and Utah .

Slightly more than half of Americans aged 12 or older reported being current drinkers of alcohol in the 2007 survey (51.1 percent). This translates to an estimated 126.8 million people, which was similar to the 2006 estimate of 125.3 million people (50.9 percent).
