Another form of drug rehab treatment that is available is inpatient short-term rehab. This type of treatment program is somewhat different from many other types of drug rehab programs. An individual who attends an inpatient short-term treatment center is provided with substance abuse treatment for approximately 4-6 weeks. Typically this form of drug rehab treatment is administered by medical professionals and trained counselors. The primary focus of inpatient short-tem drug rehab treatment is on medical stabilization, abstinence, and behavior modification.

In 2006, about half (50.1 percent) of the teens aged 12 to 17 reported that it would be "fairly easy" or "very easy" for them to obtain marijuana if they wanted some. Around one quarter reported it would be easy to get cocaine (25.9 percent). One in seven (14.0 percent) indicated that LSD would be "fairly" or "very" easily available, and 14.4 percent reported so for heroin.
