Quincy, Massachusetts

Introduction to Quincy, Massachusetts

The Massachusetts city of Quincy is located in Norfolk County, only 11 miles south of the capital city of Boston and about 42 miles northeast of the Rhode Island state capital of Providence. Neighboring towns include Weymouth (to the east), Braintree and Randolph (to the south), and Dedham (to the west). Situated on what is commonly referred to as the "South Shore", the area south of Boston extending along the coast down to Cape Cod, Quincy is close enough to the state capital to still be considered part of the Boston metropolitan region. Often called the "City of Presidents", Quincy is the birthplace of both John Adams (second President of the United States) and John Quincy Adams (the nation's sixth President).

Pronounced "Quinzy", the city was named after Colonel John Quincy, great-grandfather of John Quincy Adams. Originally part of what is now the neighboring town of Braintree, Quincy was officially incorporated as a separate town in 1792 and made a city in 1888. During the 19th century the city's primary industry was granite quarrying, but by the 20th century Quincy became a leading shipbuilding center. Two notable chains which were founded in the city and got their start here are Howard Johnson's and Dunkin Donuts.

Do you have a problem with drug or alcohol addiction and live in Quincy, Massachusetts? Are you concerned about a family member in Quincy, who has a problem like this? Whatever your situation it's easy to believe that you're alone with this . . . that, somehow, you have to solve the problem all on your own. That is not the case. We care about you - and will help you find an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Program in Quincy, suited to your specific treatment needs. You don't have to deal with drug addiction or alcoholism on your own!

A Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility in Quincy, is a good option for the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism. The goal of a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Center in Quincy, MA. is to direct the initial treatment plan toward the ability of the individual to stop using drugs and/or alcohol and hence avoid the psychological, legal, financial, social, and physical consequences that are usually associated with drug addiction and alcoholism.

There are many different addiction treatment approaches such as Long-term Treatment Programs, Outpatient Addiction Treatment, Short-term Treatment Centers, Inpatient Treatment Programs, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.

Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers in Quincy, typically focus on the two-fold nature of drug addiction and alcoholism: physical and psychological addiction. Physical addiction can be treated by a detoxification program in Quincy, Massachusetts with treatment procedure to assist with the painful withdrawal symptoms which manifest themselves when a person discontinues the consumption of a drug or drugs that they are addicted to. With habitual use of a psychoactive substance the brain gradually adapts to the presence of the drug so the desired effect becomes minimal. This is how physical tolerance develops to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol to name a few. It also explains why more and more of the drug is needed to get the same effect with habitual use of an addictive drug. The abrupt cessation of an addictive drug can lead to serious withdrawal symptoms where the body may take weeks or months (depending on the drug involved) to return to normal function. The withdrawal symptoms from certain substances, such as heroin, can induce severe and painful withdrawal symptoms, and be quite prolonged.

An Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Program in Quincy, will not only provide the person with a professional detox but also provide a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Center for the psychological issues inevitably underlying all drug and alcohol addiction problems, so as to decrease the chances of relapse and increase the chances of a clean and sober life.

An Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Facility in Quincy, MA. is more likely to be one of the most successful methods for treating an individual with a severe drug addiction problem. Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facilities in Quincy, are designed to deliver a comprehensive treatment curriculum and assist a person in every facet of their life 24 hours a day.

For a person to make a successful recovery, they must acquire new knowledge, abilities and 'life skills'. This new knowledge, abilities and life skills must be directed toward strategies for returning home to Quincy, from an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Center and encountering old drug using acquaintances in Quincy - as well as ways to handle the many reminders and triggers of their past drug using days in Quincy. These triggers can produce memories which can produce psychological stressors. These psychological stressors often hinder the recovering addict, making it very difficult for them to feel as though they have control over their actions concerning drug using impulses. This is because research into the brain of addicts shows changes in the way their brain functions long after they have discontinued using drugs and/or alcohol. This is the main reason why even an individual with will power as strong as steel may find it extremely difficult to overcome drug addiction or alcoholism without professional addiction treatment. With so many obstacles such as triggers, drug cravings, and changes in the way their brain functions due to habitual drug use, it is no surprise why so many people attend an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Center each year to successfully recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

There are many reasons why a person should enroll into an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Program in Quincy. A few of the many reasons are: the inability to control or eliminate their drinking or drug use, alienating their friends and family, legal problems, severe depression and general unhappiness due to excessive drug or alcohol use.
