Introduction to Sparks, Nevada

The Nevada city of Sparks, part of Washoe County, is located in the Truckee Meadows of northwestern Nevada between the Carson and Virginia Mountain Ranges, only 4 miles east of Reno and about 12 miles from the California border. Perched at an elevation of 4,500 feet, the city is bisected by Interstate I-80. Named for former Nevada Governor John Sparks, the city which at various times had been called East Reno, New Wadsworth, and Harriman became incorporated as the City of Sparks in 1905. Although originally distinct from Reno, the city has grown close to its western neighbor to the point where today they are often referred to as a twin city ("Reno-Sparks").

Are you battling an addiction to drugs or alcohol and live in Sparks, Nevada? Do you have a friend or family member that is addicted to drugs or alcohol in Sparks and you don't know where to turn to for help? Addiction to any substance can be a very dark and lonely place, not just for the abuser but for anyone that cares about them. All hope is not lost; there are effective solutions out there. We can help you find a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Program in Sparks that will be appropriate for your treatment needs.

An Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Program in Sparks is a perfect solution for the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism. Treatment will be geared towards helping the individual overcome their need to fix problems in their life with drugs and alcohol. Once they can grasp this, they will be able to cope with life situations more appropriately and resolve their problems without substances.

There are a variety of approaches to addiction treatment. Examples offered in Sparks are Outpatient Drug Rehab Centers, Long-term Drug Treatment, Short-term Drug Rehab Centers, Inpatient Drug Rehab Programs, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.

Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers in Sparks will target both the physical and psychological aspects of addiction. Individuals are treated for physical addiction by undergoing a detoxification program in Sparks, Nevada to assist with the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms which result when an addict discontinues use of a substance they are addicted to. Continued use of a psychoactive substance over time causes the brain to adapt to the presence of the drug, making the desired effect minimal. Physical tolerance to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol develops in this way. Over time, more and more of the addictive drug is required to get the same effect. Quitting an addictive drug abruptly causes serious withdrawal symptoms, which may take the body weeks or months to return to normal function. Withdrawing from hardcore drugs such as heroin can cause extremely severe and painful withdrawal symptoms, which can last for quite some time.

A Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Center in Sparks will be able to administer a professional detox as well as assistance with psychological issues. These underlying psychological issues are at the root of all drug and alcohol addiction problems. Addressing this head on will decrease the chances of relapse and increase the chances of a fully rehabilitated and contributing member of society. A Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Facility in Sparks, NV. has proven to be the most successful method for treating an individual with a severe drug addiction problem. A Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Center in Sparks, follows a rigid, comprehensive program to ensure a successful recovery. This program addresses every aspect of addiction and every area where the person could be having trouble.

To ensure a lasting recovery, the individual must gain the knowledge, abilities and "life tools" to change their behavior and reaction to situations. The individual's program will be focused on strategies for returning home to Sparks, from a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Program and even running into prior drug using friends or acquaintances in Sparks. Upon completion of their program, the individual will be able to deal with the reminders and triggers in Sparks which may have prompted their drug use, as these same triggers can produce psychological stressors. These psychological stressors, if not addressed, can make it very hard for an individual to control their response to drug using impulses. Research has shown that an addict shows changes in the way their brain functions after having discontinued using drugs and/or alcohol. Because of this, even an individual with the best of intentions may find it extremely hard to overcome drug addiction or alcoholism without professional addiction treatment.

So you can see that a recovering addict has a lot to deal with when deciding to kick the habit. With triggers, drug cravings, and changes in the way their brain functions due to habitual drug use, seeking help at an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Treatment Facility to successfully recovery from drug and alcohol addiction is a no-brainer.

A person that is serious about the decision to get sober should enroll in an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Treatment Center in Sparks, NV. Why fail again on your own? Why lose another friend or push a family member even further away? Why beg, cheat, and steal just to get drugs or alcohol, risking legal problems and jail time? You don't have to be depressed and unhappy because of excessive drug or alcohol use. There is help available, even for the most severe addicts.

Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Quality drug rehab addiction treatment should include behavioral therapy such as counseling, cognitive therapy, or any combination thereof.

An individual's perception of the risks of substance use has been shown to be related to whether he or she actually uses the substance (e.g., Bachman, Johnston, & O'Malley, 1998). In 2002, the State with the lowest rate of perceived great risk of using marijuana occasionally (once a month) among persons aged 12 or older was Massachusetts (Table A.3). Only about 25 percent of all persons aged 12 or older in Massachusetts thought that occasional use was a great risk. This is striking in that Massachusetts reported only a moderate rate (6.3 percent) of past month use of marijuana in the 12 or older age group (Table A.2). States in the West and Northeast accounted for most of the lowest rates of perceptions of great risk of marijuana use among persons aged 12 or older. In addition to Massachusetts, there were Alaska, Colorado, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington. Seven of the States having the lowest perceived risks also reported rates in the highest fifth for past month marijuana use for persons aged 12 or older. Similarly, of the 10 States indicating the highest perceived risk of occasional marijuana use among persons aged 12 or older, six had past month marijuana use rates that were in the lowest fifth (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, and West Virginia).

According to some of the latest research that was conducted by the Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN), nearly two million visits to emergency departments in the United States reportedly involved the use of some type of illegal drugs.

Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug in the United States.

As observed in prior years, the level of alcohol use was strongly associated with illegal drug use in 2001. Among the 12.9 million heavy drinkers aged 12 or older, 30.7 percent were current illegal drug users. For binge drinkers who were not heavy drinkers, 15.9 percent reported past month illegal drug use. Other drinkers (i.e., past month alcohol use but not binge drinking) had a rate of 5.4 percent for current illegal drug use, and persons who did not use alcohol in the past month were least likely to use illegal drugs (2.8 percent).

In 2008, current cigarette smoking among teens aged 12 to 17 and young adults aged 18 to 25 was more prevalent among whites than blacks (10.6 vs. 5.0 percent for teens and 40.6 vs. 26.3 percent for young adults).
