The causes of drug addiction are many, but several key areas can often be pinpointed. Drugs and alcohol have been known to be used in order to attempt to kill the pain of ordinary life; they destroy the physical and emotional pain by changing an addict?s perception on life. Drugs and alcohol use does not really change anything; the only thing that occurs is that the use of drugs or alcohol makes the addict become numb to the pain and unhappiness that is a part of their lives.
In 2008, the use of smokeless tobacco in the past month was reported by 4.3 percent of persons aged 18 or older who had not completed high school, 4.6 percent of those who completed high school but did not attend college, and 3.2 percent of those who attended some college. The prevalence among college graduates, 2.5 percent, was lower than among those who had not completed high school and those who had completed high school but had not attended college.
