According to the 2000 Monitoring the Future survey, Ecstasy use increased among students in the 12th, 10th, and 8th grades.

Among teens aged 12 to 17, there was evidence of regional differences in trends of marijuana use between 2002 and 2005. Current marijuana use rates declined in the Northeast, Midwest, and South between 2002 and 2005.
