Heroin withdrawal begins as early as a few hours after the drug was last used. The body needs time to recover, and heroin withdrawal symptoms result. In Panama City, Florida, two incidents caused law enforcement there to be alerted to the drug?s serious effects. In one incident, several police officers were needed to subdue a man who tore a radar unit out of a police car with his teeth. In another incident, police reported that a woman attacked her own mother with a machete, thinking that she was a monster. After investigating the incidents, it was noted that both individuals were under the influence of bath salts that they had purchased legally in the state.
