Among teens aged 12 to 17, there were 1.3 million (4.9 percent) who needed treatment for an illegal drug use problem in 2005. Of this group, only 142,000 received treatment at a specialty facility (11.3 percent of teens aged 12 to 17 who needed treatment), leaving 1.1 million teens who needed treatment but did not receive it at a specialty facility.
Street dealers often promote methadone as a heroin alternative; it is such a potent drug, that sales of methadone on the street have recently skyrocketed.
Bath salts are reported to contain Mephedrone, which is a central nervous system stimulant that causes a sympathomimetic reaction with occasional psychological symptoms such as delusions, paranoia, psychosis and hallucinations.
Ecstasy use can result in a feeling of euphoria, a sense of intimacy with others, and diminished anxiety.
The intensity of opiate withdrawal symptoms depends on the dose and speed of withdrawal. Short-acting opiates, like heroin, tend to produce more intense but briefer symptoms.
Residential inpatient drug rehab treatment offers intensive drug recovery help for individuals that are struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction. This type of long term treatment will generally take place over a period of weeks or months.
