Did You Know? ... Interesting Facts and Statistics:
Methadone is an opioid that is classified with drugs such as opium and morphine. Methadone is highly addictive and the drug does have serious potential for abuse.
Cocaine is produced from coca leaves. These leaves are stripped from the plant and crushed, chopped, and/or pounded and mixed with a solution of alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or some other solvent that will separate the cocaine from the leaves.
The number of Methadone overdoses has greatly increased in the United States within the past several years. During 2005, almost 4,000 people died from an overdose of the potent opiate.
The rate of illegal drug use among persons aged 12 or older in 2004 was similar to the rates in 2002 and 2003 (8.3 and 8.2 percent). Among teens aged 12 to 17, the rate declined between 2002 and 2004 (11.6 percent in 2002, 11.2 percent in 2003, and 10.6 percent in 2004).
Among teens aged 12 to 17, there was a significant increase between 2000 and 2001 in the rate of current illegal drug use among boys (from 9.8 to 11.4 percent), but no significant difference was noted among girls (from 9.5 to 10.2 percent).
The psychosis that is linked to the bath salts is said to be impressive; one man in Louisiana barricaded himself in the attic with a rifle, yelling "I gotta kill the monsters before they kill all of us".
