OxyContin is considered to have a high abuse potential and is prescribed for moderate to high pain relief associated with injuries, dislocation, fractures, neuralgia, arthritis, and lower back and cancer pain.
In 2008, 21.4 percent of teens aged 12 to 17 reported that, in the past year, they had gotten into a serious fight at school or at work; this was similar to the rates in 2007 (22.3 percent) and 2002 (20.6 percent). An estimated 7.3 percent had, in at least one instance, attacked others with the intent to harm or seriously hurt them in 2008, which was the same as the rate in 2007 and was similar to the 7.8 percent reported in 2002.
