History
The city was formerly known as Holderby's Landing. The town took its name in tribute to Collis P. Huntington who established the town in 1870. The region was earlier part of the French and Indian War Veteran's Savage Grant. Huntington was a major center for passenger train service during the early portion of the 20th Century.
