A drug rehab treatment program is an effective solution for individuals who have struggled with an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Every year, substance abuse affects more than twenty million Americans.

Among the estimated 4.0 million adults on probation at some time in the past year, 24.4 percent reported current illegal drug use in 2001, which was comparable with the rate observed in 2000 (24.2 percent). This compares with a rate of 6.3 percent among adults not on probation in 2001.

Some individuals who abuse prescription medication such as Ativan take sedative type drugs to bring them down after using stimulants such as ecstasy or cocaine; others often take benzodiazepines to enhance the effects of alcohol. In 2006, an estimated 12.4 percent of persons aged 12 or older drove under the influence of alcohol at least once in the past year.
