Drug bust in Georgia

Drugs, cash seized in traffic stops By BRENNAN LEATHERS 11/09/2005 Sheriffs deputies and Georgia State Patrol troopers seized quantities of illegal drugs and cash in two unrelated traffic stops during the weekend, according to incident reports. Advertisement On Friday night, Georgia State Patrol troopers conducting a road check near the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 North and Bethel Road stopped a car whose driver had glassy and red eyes, Deputy Michael Logue stated. According to Logue, Trooper Walt Landrum of the GSPs Donalsonville Post smelled what he believed was marijuana and began a search of the car. Logue assisted with the search and found a clear plastic bag containing several smaller bags that contained a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana. In the glove compartment, Logue found a bag that contained three large stacks of United States currency. Sgt. Chip Nix of the Georgia Sheriffs Office, who is investigating the case, said the cash totaled $14,500. The cars driver, identified as Randy Gordon, 25, of 506 Chason St., Bainbridge,Georgia and a passenger, Jamichael Lakeith McCants, 23, of 425 Love St., Bainbridge,Georgia were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. A North Florida man was arrested on a narcotics possession charge in an unrelated traffic stop on Saturday night. Shortly after 6 p.m., Deputy Logue stopped a car on Georgia Highway 97, northeast of Bainbridge,Georgia. Someone had reported the car to E-911 dispatchers as possibly being driven by someone under the influence. Logue noticed the cars driver, identified as Roy Lee Faulk, 54, of Quincy, Fla., appeared nervous. The deputy checked Faulks Florida drivers license and discovered it was suspended. Logue stated he searched Faulks car and found 29 plastic baggies containing a substance which tested positive as residue of the illegal drug cocaine. Faulk is charged with driving with a suspended license and for possession of cocaine.

Because of factors like these cocaine is further treated with oxidizing agents to produce a water-soluble form of the drug. This is usually done by further washing, oxidation and separation procedures that involve potassium permanganate, benzole, and sodium carbonate. The result is an odorless, white crystalline powder. It has a bitter, numbing taste.
Marijuana harms in many ways, and kids are the most vulnerable to its damaging effects. Use of the drug can lead to significant health, safety, social, and learning or behavioral problems, especially for young users. Making matters worse is the fact that the marijuana available today is more potent than ever.
As of 2007, meth and meth lab seizure data suggests that approximately 80 percent of the methamphetamine used in the United States originates from larger methamphetamine laboratories operated by Mexican-based syndicates on both sides of the border, and that approximately 20 percent comes from small toxic labs in the United States.
Cocaine hydrochloride, the form in which cocaine is snorted or injected is often "cut," or mixed, with things that look like it. The final product can be from 1% to 95% pure. Common additives are sugars, such as mannitol, lactose, or glucose, or even sugar substitutes, and local anesthetics such as tetracaine, procaine, and lidocaine. Quinine, talc, and cornstarch have also been used. Some consumers may unknowingly purchase a supply without any cocaine, but just a cocaine substitute such as caffeine, amphetamine, PCP, procaine, and lidocaine.
