Raid in Georgia

Raid Nets $12 Million in Cocaine. Federal agents said they uncovered clear evidence that Atlanta,Georgia is becoming a major wholesale distribution center for illegal drugs from Mexico. A raid on a rented home in the Ben Hill community of Fulton County,Georgia this week netted $12 million in cocaine, as well as an estimated $2 million in cash. Federal agents and Fulton County's SWAT team broke through the door of the home on Tuesday, where they arrested five suspects. The home served as a major drug distribution center and held a gold mine of drugs and money, agents said. The cocaine found at the Erin Street address added up to 120 kilos and the cash is still being counted. Combined with other raids in Memphis, Tenn., and Laredo, Texas, agents collected 7,000 ecstasy tablets, 21 guns, and three luxury cars. For the first time, the drug ring, which has direct ties to a Mexican crime lord, had only one member who was in the U.S. illegally, authorities said. All of the remaining suspects were born in the United States. It took more than a year to set up the raids of what the federal agents say is a major drug wholesaler. The agents added that the investigation will likely continue to produce more leads and more arrests.

Serious health and appearance problems associated with many meth users can be caused by unsterilized needles, lack or ignoring of hygiene needs (more typical on chronic methamphetamine use), increase in acne on high doses, and obsessive skin-picking which may lead to abscesses.
Rolled up banknotes, hollowed-out pens, cut straws, pointed ends of keys, specialized spoons, long fingernails, and (clean) tampon applicators are often used to insufflate cocaine. Such devices are often called "tooters" by users. The cocaine typically is poured onto a flat, hard surface (such as a mirror, CD case or book) and divided into "bumps", "lines" or "rails", and then insufflated.
Another one of the risks of heroin use is that all heroin users--not just those who inject the drug-- becoming addicted. Individuals who abuse heroin over time develop a tolerance for the drug, meaning that they must use increasingly larger doses to achieve the same intensity or effect they experienced when they first began using the drug. Heroin ceases to produce feelings of pleasure in users who develop tolerance; instead, these users must continue taking the drug simply to feel normal. Addicted individuals who stop using the drug may experience withdrawal symptoms, which include heroin craving, restlessness, muscle and bone pain, and vomiting.
In 1914, the Harrison Narcotics Tax Act outlawed the sale and distribution of cocaine in the United States.
