The ultimate goal of all Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers should be to enable the individual from La Mirada, California to achieve lasting abstinence. Much research has indicated that in order for drug and alcohol addiction treatment to be effective, it must teach the individual how to change to their compulsive behaviors in order to remove the addiction and to be able to avoid a possible relapse. Overall, Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facilities need to address both the physical and psychological dependency of an addiction; the behavioral and social symptoms also need to be adequately addressed before an individual from La Mirada can have the tools that they will need to help sustain that recovery for the remainder of his or her life.

Drug detox is the first step in the La Mirada, CA. rehabilitation treatment process toward recovery from a drug and alcohol addiction. The main goal in this component of the La Mirada Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Facility is to rid the body of toxins that accumulate over the course of a long term drug or alcohol addiction. It is very common to see individuals from La Mirada, CA. in drug detox that has combined different drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, or pain pills with alcohol.

When an individual from La Mirada has sustained the use of any of these various kinds of drugs, it causes adaptations within their body that lessen the drug's original effects over time; this is a phenomenon that is known as drug tolerance. At this point, the individual from La Mirada, California has developed a physical dependency on the substance and withdrawal symptoms will be experienced upon discontinuation. The reason that it is imperative that an individual from La Mirada have professional supervision during the detox process is because the staff at a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Center can help to make this process much easier by administering elements of treatment that can help to alleviate some of the painful withdrawal symptoms.

Once the early stages of withdrawal have passed, an individual from La Mirada will then be able to begin a directed, Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Program that will begin to address aspects of the psychological dependency by teaching behavioral skills that will help them to function without the use of alcohol or drugs. This component in drug recovery treatment will usually involve some type of individual or group counseling. There may also be occupational and behavioral therapies that are utilized as components of treatment in order to help to teach the individual from La Mirada, CA. life and social skills that may have been lost while they were under the influence of addiction.

Before an addict is finally willing to surrender to the Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Center process, they may have already made repeated promises to their loved ones in La Mirada who have been experiencing the negative effects from the individual's drug or alcohol abuse; because of the way that these substances chemically alter the person's brain, these empty promises cannot be fulfilled. If loved ones in La Mirada, California continue to believe these empty promises, it could possible mean that the addicted person will then have time to overdose on drugs or have a serious car accident while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

In a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Center, the individual from La Mirada will become educated about the ways that drugs and alcohol affect the various functions of the brain; they will learn that it was these physiological changes that made it almost impossible for them to stop using on their own, and not personal integrity. As an individual from La Mirada, CA. learns more about how to deal with drug triggers and as they master to the tools that they will need to use in order to stay sober when they return home to La Mirada, they will become confident in their ability to do so.

Did You Know? ...
Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug. In 2001, it was used by 76 percent of current illegal drug users. Approximately 56 percent of current illegal drug users consumed only marijuana, 20 percent used marijuana and another illegal drug, and the remaining 24 percent used an illegal drug but not marijuana in the past month. Therefore, about 44 percent of current illegal drug users in 2001 (7.0 million Americans) used illegal drugs other than marijuana and hashish, with or without using marijuana as well.

During March of 2011, Senator Bob Casey published this recent letter to the Drug Enforcement Agency, urging the DEA to ban bath salts. A copy of the letter stated the following: ?A series of recent crimes and violent attacks by individuals using ?bath salts? have shown that these drugs pose an imminent threat to public safety. According to the American Association of Poison Control Centers, U.S Poison Centers have taken 1,196 calls regarding ?bath salts? already this year, up from 298 calls in 2010. Police in Scranton, Pennsylvania report that bath salts first appeared in the area in December. Since that time incidents related to ?bath salts? requiring police response have increased rapidly. In one high profile case, a man using ?bath salts? allegedly entered a monastery and stabbed a priest. Because ?bath salts? pose a clear threat to public health, I urge you to exercise DEA?s emergency authority under the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 to place MDPV and mephedrone in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act for up to one year.? The Senator has since been publicly praised by his constituents for boldly confronting this important life-threatening issue.

An essential aspect about drug abuse is that the substance that is abused can be an illegal drug such as marijuana, inhalants such as model airplane glue, or prescription drugs used improperly such as abusing Vicodin or OxyContin.

Among adults aged 18 or older, past year prevalence of MDE varied by race/ethnicity in 2006. The rate of MDE was lowest among Asians (3.0 percent), while rates for other groups were 14.3 percent among persons reporting two or more races, 12.1 percent among American Indians or Alaska Natives, 7.8 percent among whites, 6.3 percent among blacks, 5.8 percent among Native Hawaiians or Other Pacific Islanders, and 5.4 percent among Hispanics.

Numerous inhalants are located in the utility cabinets of many homes. Some examples of inhalants are air fresheners, markers, glue, fingernail polish, and many common household cleaners.

Among people aged 12 to 20, past month alcohol use rates in 2001 ranged from 19.7 percent for Asians and 19.8 percent among blacks to 31.6 percent for whites. Binge drinking was reported by 21.7 percent of underage whites and 18.5 percent of underage American Indians or Alaska Natives, but only by 10.7 percent of underage Asians and 10.5 percent of underage blacks.
