Rose established a large ranch which he named "Rose’s Meadow", later shortened to "Rosemeade" and finally to "Rosemead", which would become the city's name. For decades, the community was populated with a large array of small truck farms and chicken and rabbit ranches. By the time of Rosemead's incorporation in 1959, the area had begun a transformation from quiet pastoral lands to what it is today: a bustling city replete with businesses, industries, shops and lots of people.
