Do you live in Kahului, Hawaii and have an addiction to drugs or alcohol? Is someone you know or care about battling drug or alcohol addiction and needs help? Drug and alcohol addiction exists everywhere in society today, and when an individual is caught up in addiction it can seem that there is no way out. There is in fact a way out, and it can be found at an Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehabilitation Facility in Kahului.

A Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Facility in Kahului treats drug addiction and alcoholism by teaching the individual how to overcome problems in life with real solutions, and that drugs and alcohol are not the answer. This can empower the individual, and put them in a position to start winning and achieving their goals. The end result of treatment at an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Program in Kahului would be the individual being able to work their way through life and its obstacles, without the need or desire to use drugs or alcohol.

Due to the varying needs of individuals seeking treatment, there are a number of treatment programs available in Kahului to care for someone addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. There are Short-term Drug Rehab Centers, Inpatient Drug Treatment, Long-term Drug Rehab Facilities, Outpatient Drug Rehab Centers, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.

Treatment at a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility in Kahului will hone in on the two main causes of addiction, physical and psychological. Over time, the individual's brain adapts to the use of a psychoactive substance, lessening the effect of the drug. Physical tolerance develops as a result. The person ends up having to take more and more drugs or alcohol to try and get back to that first initial high that got them hooked.

Upon commencing treatment, an individual will address the physical aspect of addiction by taking part in a detoxification program in Kahului, Hawaii, which will get him through the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that are caused by abrupt cessation of a substance. Withdrawal symptoms can typically last for days, weeks or months depending on the type of substance you're dealing with. Heroin withdrawal for example may take quite some time to get through, and is particularly painful. Detoxification along with psychological counseling will get the individual in the right frame of mind to start addressing the psychological issues that are involved with the addiction to drugs or alcohol. This method greatly increases the individual's chances of a successful recovery and prevents relapse.

A Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Facility in Kahului, HI. offers a sane environment that is conducive to a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The individual will be taught how to properly handle life situations and control their own behavior in response to their environment. When the individual returns home following treatment, he will do so with a new mindset on how to engage with friends, family etc. The influences which may have triggered addiction in the individual will not have the same power over him. As part of treatment the individual will have addressed these psychological stressors as a priority and they will no longer have an effect on him.

Studies have shown that an individual who is addicted to drugs and alcohol shows changes in their brain, specifically the way it functions and responds to situations. This is an important reason that professional help at a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Program in Kahului, HI. is the best option to try and beat addiction.

Someone who is caught up in the destructive cycle of addiction is up against a lot, the odds may seem against him. But they aren't if he pursues treatment at a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Program in Kahului, HI. Treatment exists so that the addict is given the best chance at a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. There is hope for you or someone you care about. Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Pharmacists have the ability to play a key role in preventing prescription drug abuse and addiction by making it a point to provide clear information and advice about how to take a medication appropriately, about the effects the medication may have, and about any possible drug interactions. Pharmacists can help to curtail the incidents of prescription fraud or diversion by keeping a keen eye out for false or altered prescription forms. Many pharmacies have developed "hotlines" to alert other drug stores that are in the same region when a fraud has been detected.

Those individuals who have experienced many years of heavy drug addiction or alcoholism may have a more difficult time when it comes to ending their deeply rooted addiction patterns. Most of the difficulty will more than likely be due to the fact that their lifestyle has consisted of drug or alcohol use for so long that it may be difficult to even fathom living sober. This type of individual would greatly benefit from making a commitment to a long term residential drug addiction treatment program.

Opiates and similar drugs that include Vicodin, work to increase the amount of dopamine in the brain; the purpose of this is for the user to feel a state of euphoria as opposed to pain.

Teens aged 12 to 17 who had engaged in fighting or other delinquent behaviors were more likely than other teens to have used illegal drugs in the past month. For example, in 2008, past month illegal drug use was reported by 15.9 percent of teens who had gotten into a serious fight at school or work in the past year compared with 7.3 percent of those who had not engaged in fighting, and by 39.8 percent of those who had stolen or tried to steal something worth over $50 in the past year compared with 7.7 percent of those who had not engaged in such theft.

Female teens were more likely than male teens to report using outpatient specialty mental health services (13.6 vs. 9.3 percent), education services (13.0 vs. 10.5 percent), or general medical based services (3.2 vs. 2.6 percent), but there was no significant gender difference in the use of inpatient specialty mental health services.

Among boys aged 18 to 22 in 2008, full time college students and those not enrolled full time in college did not differ significantly in their rates of past month cigar smoking (18.0 and 18.5 percent, respectively). However, cigar use by boys in this age range who were not enrolled full time in college declined from 2007 (21.7 percent) to 2008 (18.5 percent).
