Introduction to Champaign, Illinois

Nestled amidst the prairies and farms of America’s heartland, The Illinois city of Champaign is still only a little more than a 2-hour drive from Chicago (135 miles to the north). Serviced by three interstate highways (I-57, I-72, and I-74), Champaign is abutted by its "twin City" Urbana, with which it shares the flagship campus of the University of Illinois. A university town centered in a fertile farm area, Champaign has an economy anchored by agriculture, medicine, and education, although the city also maintains a burgeoning high-tech and software industry focused on research and development of new technologies. In 1985, Champaign hosted the first Farm Aid concert at the University of Illinois' Memorial Stadium.

The physical aspect of the drug or alcohol addiction can be treated by the detoxification component of the Champaign, Illinois Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Center; a treatment program will be able to assist the individual by helping to alleviate some of the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that accompany the detox process. The withdrawal symptoms occur because the brain has adapted to the consistent use of the substance; after a period of time, it will take more and more of the substance, in order to produce the same desired effects. It is at this point, that the individual from Champaign has developed a physical tolerance to the drugs such as cocaine, heroin, marijuana, opiates, and alcohol, just to name a few. A Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Program in Champaign will have educated the recovering addict on how to successfully respond to these familiar triggers that can often produce a high amount of psychological stress.

Many individuals from Champaign, IL. may try to overcome a drug or alcohol addiction without professional help. Because of the ways in which drugs alter the various functions in the brain, an individual from Champaign with the strongest desire to overcome their drug or alcohol addiction on their own will only meet with failure.
