In 2006, past month cigar smoking was equally common among male full time college students aged 18 to 22 (19.0 percent) as among boys in the same age group who were not enrolled full time in college (20.3 percent).
In 2008, there were 1.2 million teens (5.0 percent) aged 12 to 17 who needed treatment for an alcohol use problem. Of this group, only 77,000 received treatment at a specialty facility (0.3 percent of all teens and 6.2 percent of teens who needed treatment), leaving almost 1.2 million teens who needed but did not receive treatment.
The rate of current marijuana use among teens aged 12 to 17 declined from 7.6 percent in 2004 to 6.8 percent in 2005.
