Rockford, IllinoisIntroduction to Rockford, Illinois
Rockford is a city located in northern Illinois about 85 miles northwest of Chicago. Sitting on the banks of the Rock River, Rockford serves as the county seat of Winnebago County and is one of the state's largest cities. Located at the intersection of Interstates I-39, I-90, and U.S. Route 20, Rockford is serviced by Chicago/Rockford International Airport (formerly known as the Greater Rockford Airport). The city is home to Rockford College, as well as Judson College, Rock Valley College, and a satellite campus of Northern Illinois University. Nicknamed the Forest City, Rockford has been long known for its abundance of elm trees.
Founded in 1834 by Germanicus Kent, Rockford was originally known as the village of Midway due to its location midway between Chicago and Kent's hometown of Galena. In 1837 the community's name was officially changed to Rock Ford and in 1852 Rockford was incorporated as a city. The arrival of the Galena & Chicago Union Railroad was an early catalyst for the region's economic growth, which continued for several decades. By the turn of the century, Rockford was recognized as a significant industrial and manufacturing center and home to many nationally known manufacturers. Although the city's industry took a major hit during the decades following World War II, the economy in recent years has rebounded, and today features an abundance of professional and business services, making the city a thriving commercial center as well as a cultural and entertainment hub.
Rockford Art, Culture and Entertainment
Rockford is home to several museums and performing arts venues and its surrounding area is known as an outdoor destination. The Burpee Museum of Natural History chronicles animals, rocks and minerals, fossils, and native peoples with exhibits in a facility connected to Riverfront Museum Park. The Discovery Center Museum features a planetarium and both permanent and traveling exhibits. The Erlander Home Museum is the cultural centerpiece of the city's Swedish-ancestry community, and the Ethnic Heritage Museum relates the history of the six ethnic groups that settled in early Rockford (Irish, Italians, African-Americans, Polish, Lithuanians, and Hispanics). The Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center presents an annual concert series by local and world-renowned artists, and the New American Theater is a regional professional theater which offers an annual season of productions including a Christmas performance. The Rock River, which runs through the heart of Rockford, provides a continuous source of recreation for the Rockford community, including a bike path spanning several miles and water sports such as boating, canoeing, fishing and water skiing. "On the Waterfront" is the name of Illinois' largest music festival. This nationally acclaimed event encompasses over 30 blocks of downtown Rockford each Labor Day weekend, bringing together food, fun, and music to satisfy everyone's tastes.
Sports fans have many choices in Rockford. The Rockford Riverhawks are an independent minor league baseball team competing in the Frontier League. The Riverhawks carry the banner for the city's storied baseball history, which includes a team (the Forest Citys) established soon after the Civil War and the Rockford Peaches, a 1940s team playing in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Other former pro baseball franchises playing in Rockford include the Expos, Royals, Cubbies, and Reds. Hockey fans can root for the Rockford Icehogs, a member of the United Hockey League, who play at the city's MetroCentre. Also playing at the MetroCentre are the Rock River Raptors, a professional indoor football team playing in the United Indoor Football (UIF) league. Ironically, Rockford was the site of the first-ever Arena Football game when the Rockford Metros played a "playtest game" in 1986. Another Rockford present-day sports team is the Rockford Thunder, an indoor soccer team, which belongs to the American Indoor Soccer League (AISL).

Are drugs and alcohol creating destruction in your life in Rockford, IL.? Do you know of someone in Rockford, IL. that is going down the dark path of drug or alcohol addiction? It is very easy for someone to fall into the trap of addiction, but an individual soon realizes that it is extremely difficult to kick an addiction. That is where a Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Facility in Rockford comes in, to assist with the seemingly impossible task of treating individuals who have lost hope at ever being sober and happy again.
An Alcohol Rehab or Drug Treatment Program in Rockford treats drug addiction and alcoholism by ingraining in an addict that drugs and alcohol are not the solution to their problems and difficulties in life. It teaches an addict that all of their problems have solutions, solutions that can be found through cognitive reasoning and common sense. A Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility in Rockford would put the individual in the frame of mind to overcome life's obstacles by confronting them head on, and obliterates the person's desire to use drugs as a way out.
There are many different types of in-patient and out-patient treatment programs available in Rockford, IL., because each individual has different needs. Examples of programs available in Rockford are Outpatient Drug Rehabilitation Facilities, Short-term Drug Rehabilitation Facilities, Inpatient Treatment, Long-term Treatment, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.
Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers in Rockford have a two-prong approach to treatment, both the physical and psychological causes and effects of drug and alcohol addiction. As the individual's brain adapts to the use of a psychoactive substance over time, the effect that the drug creates within the body is lessened. Due to this physical tolerance, more and more drugs or alcohol must be consumed to get high or even get a buzz.
The physical aspect of addiction is the first thing an addict will address when making the decision to seek treatment for addiction. A detoxification program in Rockford, Illinois delivered by a qualified Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Center will navigate the addict through the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that are caused by abruptly coming off of drugs or alcohol. These withdrawal symptoms can last for days, weeks or months; all depending on the drug of choice and individual circumstances. Heroin withdrawal for example will take a considerable amount of time to detox and is a highly painful and uncomfortable process. Detoxification and psychological counseling right from get-go will put the individual on the right path to address issues involved with drug and alcohol abuse. This gives the individual a better chance of having a lasting recovery and prevents relapse.
A Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility in Rockford, IL. takes the individual out of the environment which may have triggered their addiction, and offers an environment that will ensure a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The individual will be given tools to better handle life situations and triggers which may have caused their drug use. When the individual completes treatment and does return home, he will do so with a new ability to handle triggers, which will no longer have an influence over him, his actions and behavior.
People who have abused drugs and alcohol shows changes in their brain. Research shows that these changes in the brain effect how an addict responds to situations. Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facilities are aware of this and know that an addict will need more than high hopes to beat addiction. This is yet another reason why professional treatment at an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Treatment Center in Rockford, IL. is so important.
There are a lot of reasons to seek treatment today, mainly because most people who try to kick the habit on their own will fail and just start using drugs or alcohol again. Tackling addiction and getting control of your life can be achieved by seeking treatment at a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Center in Rockford, IL. It doesn't have to be another failure, sobriety can be achieved with the right technology and the care and support of people who want to see you winning again. Don't think about it, do something about it and get your life or the life of someone you care about on the road to a sober and happy life today. Treatment can begin immediately by finding which option is best for you at one of the many Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Programs in Rockford, IL.

Did You Know? ... Interesting Facts and Statistics:
For the large majority of drug users, physical detoxification and rehab treatment in a sober, supportive environment allows them to finally enter into long term recovery and embark upon a lifetime of sobriety.
There were 6.2 million (2.5 percent) persons aged 12 or older who used prescription-type psychotherapeutic drugs nonmedically in the past month. These estimates were lower than in 2007 (6.9 million or 2.8 percent).
The rate of current illegal drug use in metropolitan areas was higher than the rate in nonmetropolitan areas in 2005. The rates were 8.4 percent in large metropolitan counties, 8.4 percent in small metropolitan counties, and 6.9 percent in nonmetropolitan counties as a group. Within nonmetropolitan areas, counties that were urbanized had a rate of 7.8 percent, less urbanized counties had a rate of 6.5 percent, while completely rural counties had a rate of 5.1 percent.
When compared to heroin, in which the drug withdrawal period generally lasts a week to 10 days, heavy Methadone users can expect to not recover for up to 6 weeks.
Ecstasy users may feel quite alert or "hyper" after taking the drug.
Meth users may exhibit sexually compulsive behaviour while under the influence of Methamphetamine. This disregard for the potential dangers of unprotected sex or other reckless sexual behavior may contribute to the spread of sexually transmitted infections.
