Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Among young adults 18 to 22 years old, full time college students were less likely to be current cigarette smokers than their peers who were not enrolled full time in college. Cigarette use in the past month in 2008 was reported by 27.2 percent of full time college students, less than the rate of 40.6 percent for those not enrolled full time.

The number of current users of Ecstasy had decreased between 2002 and 2003, from 676,000 to 470,000, but the number did not change between 2003 and 2004 (450,000).

Current illegal drug use rates remained stable from 2005 to 2006 among teens aged 12 to 17. However, rates of current use declined significantly from 2002 to 2006 for any illegal drug and several specific drugs (including marijuana, hallucinogens, LSD, Ecstasy, prescription-type drugs used nonmedically, pain relievers, tranquilizers, and the use of illegal drugs other than marijuana). For any illegal drug use, the rates were 11.6 percent in 2002, 11.2 percent in 2003, 10.6 percent in 2004, 9.9 percent in 2005, and 9.8 percent in 2006.

Other illegal drugs, such as heroin, codeine, amphetamine, phencyclidine (PCP), LSD, and hashish, can be mixed with cocaine.

Chunks of clear, high purity methamphetamine resemble rock candy; meth in this form is usually smoked in a small glass pipe.

The graduates of drug rehab that are deemed to have benefited long term from a successful treatment program are those individuals who can stand on their own feet and live drug-free and productive lives.
