Cocaine powder is also dissolved in water and used intravenously ("slammed"). In this form, it has a high melting point, so it cannot be smoked. Those who choose to smoke cocaine utilize a method known as freebasing.
Among 12 to 17 year olds who had past year MDE, 38.0 percent had used illegal drugs during the same period. This was significantly more than the 18.0 percent of teens who did not have past year MDE who used illegal drugs during the past year. This pattern was similar for specific types of illegal drug use, including marijuana, cocaine, hallucinogens, inhalants, and the nonmedical use of prescription-type psychotherapeutics.
