The rate of current illegal drug use among teens reporting heavy drinking in the past month increased from 60.1 percent in 2007 to 68.5 percent in 2008, and a similar increase in illegal drug use (from 37.9 to 42.6 percent) was seen among teens who engaged in binge drinking (i.e., consumption of five or more drinks on the same occasion on at least 1 day in the past month).
The goal of hosting a drug intervention is for the addict to clearly see and to accept the reality of their drug addiction and to seek help. The process of formally conducting a professionally staged drug intervention can be a difficult and delicate matter, as it is important that it is done correctly; otherwise the individual may feel cornered and become defensive. Advice from trained professional interventionists can be vitally useful in determining the proper strategy and timing for your specific drug intervention.
