The most common symptoms of amphetamines withdrawal are fatigue, long but troubled sleep, irritability, intense hunger, and moderate to severe depression, which may lead to suicidal behavior. In 2006, 57.0 percent of boys aged 12 or older were current drinkers, higher than the rate for girls (45.2 percent). However, among teens aged 12 to 17, the percentage of boys who were current drinkers (16.3 percent) was similar to the rate for girls (17.0 percent).

Illegal drug use rates are generally correlated with educational status. Among adults aged 18 or older in 2001, college graduates had the lowest rate of current use (4.3 percent).
